I would share this with my sister. I am pretty that we would have to eat it in one sitting, though. We have six kids between us. Six children with unprotected chocolate could be dangerous.

I wanted to write about my best girlfriend. July 4th she and her husband always throw a great July 4th party. I was thinking about how lucky I am to have her in my life and also thinking why do I feel that she, above all the other amazing women in my life, is closest to me. I realized that I can basically share anything and everything with her, and I can be 100% me, without ever having to worry about how she will react, what she will think about me. She knows everything about me, and I know she loves me for all of my strengths AND weaknesses. It is just so great to have someone in your life that you can respect, know you can get great advice on pretty much every subject, and have a great time being with.
I would never want to live without my girlfriends, and especially not without her!

Saw Yanni Voices in San Diego on June 20th and I have to say that I love, love, loved it! I've been a big fan since the early 90's, my first CD being Live at the Acropolis. Yes, he's changed his music a bit, but who hasn't? Even Madonna has to change hers to reflect current times. In fact I love that he's added voices to his songs, and even kicked a few new ones in there. Anyone remember Tribute? Lots of voices in there too, and let's not forget Aria.

Great concert, great singing, great performance, and yes, Ender and Nathan are HOT! Cloe and Leslie, on the other hand, beautiful and beautiful voices, but I too could have done without the strip act on the piano. Yanni, your music is passionate and heartfelt, and sells itself. No need to sell anything else.

I've had my ups and downs on the scale. Even at my tiniest, I have the mommy bulge that just won't go away. It's just skin, and I have to have surgery to get rid of it! Trust me, I've seen a plastic surgeon before, but do not have $6,000 to get a tummy tuck!
I am a T-shirt and jeans girl, and I don't have much of a wardrobe option. The parties at BlogHer is what terrifies me! I currently have nothing to dress up in, I've never really had the need for all the fancy smancy stuff...until now. I would do anything I could to win this, I'm truly in need of a little black dress for the cocktail parties next month!

I'm pretty fit and healthy, I'm not the best built mom on the block, but after having 3 kids and still in a size 6/8, I think I'm doing okay!

Please help a young mama in need!

I have been struggling with my weight, for oh...
for about forever.

Thing is, though I'm certainly not happy with the weight, I'm done putting my life on hold because of it. I have dressed the drab for way too long and I'm sick of it. I have enough plain-jane khakis and "slimming" black tops to outfit a small third-world nation. BORING!

When I think about shopping for Blogher or anything really, I cringe. Especially the fancy-schmancy stuff. I think to myself, 'Why bother? Your blubber is there, best to just try to hide it and don't get noticed too much'. But hey! My personality is not one of a wallflower, so why should my attire be? I need SlimPerfect to add some zing to my look and zing to my world!

Sure, I want to get fit and healthy, but in the meantime, I want to look nice and feel good about the clothing I'm in. SlimPerfect sounds like it might be just what I'm looking for.

It's not easy in these situations to be fashionably-challenged - believe me! BlogHer is center stage for all things fabulous and the best dresser award would be hard to choose with all the contenders. I may not be ready to take top prize, but I'm betting with SlimPerfect, I could crack the Top Ten! So pick me and help me get my groove back, would ya?

Could this not come at a better time or what?! After being on a fitness kick last year and dropping off at the end of the year when work seemed to consume my life, I took a huge backslide in my fitness routine. After having a health analysis at the job that came back telling me I had borderline high cholestrol, it was a rude awakening for me. I started back working out last month by putting out a public declaration that for 30 days, I was removing as much processed food as I could from my diet. It worked. I dropped 5.5 pounds, my energy levels increased, so did my attitude and I started running after not having done that for years. I have a renewed dedication to staying healthy and being healthy.

Making a commitment to not only improving but being dedicated to being healthy makes me one of the best blogger babes to represent in those cute outfits...plus, I am slightly addicted to fitness clothing. Can't help myself!

Melissa,

Sorry to hear of your pain over your friend. I've had tough friendships before and it is hard to handle.

I'm not a Psychologist but I can recommend one - Dr. Irene Levine. You might run this scenario by her on her blog - www.fracturedfriendships.com. She has some great books on 'fractured friendships' which would probably help. (Search for "Irene Levine" on Amazon, etc.)

I hope that helps. Good luck with your friend - Debba

I do not know where to begin on this one and I am sorry for the long post.

I met my best friend 5 years ago at work, it took us a while before becoming friends but once we did, we got along like house on fire. Unfortunately, my parents did not appreaciate her coming over at our place too often and as a result there were many arguments. My friend noticed this and we discussed it. This resulted in my friend sending messages to my Mom, requesting her to let me be and lead my own life. This did not go down well, besides everytime we met my friend could not see beyond the hurt. We stopped talking for one month and I decided to go study abroad, that's when we started talking again. We got back to being best friends, she even came to visit me. I returned and it started all over again, my parents seemed to have accepted our friendship and all was going well, but then my brother got with her one day and started insulting her again, this is because she noticed that my sister-in-law was putting on a little weight--well she was pregnant and in India we do not announce for the 1st 3 months and so he got mad at her mentioning the weight gain and started attacking her about free food etc at our house. This is when I realised that my parents were just pretending to be ok. My friend is not well off like we are, she is the sole earner at her house (dad passed away when she was a teenager) and through her hardwork and education reached a very position careerwise. Anywayz the constant name calling, even calling her a call girl as they do not understand how she is spending cash.. all has mentally tortured her again. Besides all this she lost her job and her boss played unfair and did not give her the share of profits. And recently her cousin passed away, this has put a toll on her. I also have not helped by my mood swings. Though I am not talking to my brother and really aloof from my family, she is loosing faith in life and especially in me. I do not know what to do. If I try to be there for her, she doesn't want to see me. I do not know whether me being around her is a good or bad thing at the moment. We have so many fights, she attacks me and I have to keep apologising. The moment she forgives, I seem to do something that upsets her again. I have just received a message from her that I am fake and that I should not bother or things will get nasty. I have received such messages before too and then she calms down but that's cause I push, now she says am I suffocating her and that she doesn't want me near her. My best friend is suffering and I cannot do anything to help her. I am aloof from family, my own job situaition is not great and to top of that if she distances herself, I'm going to have a breakdown big time. What should I do? I want to help her and have no clue how?

She spoke to my sister-in-law when she called but did not attend my call. I called her brother and found out that she was sleeping. However, I know that this will make her angrier but I needed to know she was safe. I am doing the wrong thing? What can I do to restore my friendship and make her gain confidence in this friendship again.

Oh and btw she is a Scorpion Woman and I am a Saggitarius Woman.

Regards
Melissa.

OK we have all been in the place where you do not have the money to get that special someone the gift that you want, And unfortonatly sometimes you have absolutly no money at all. here are 2 ideas that worked for me.

1. I made a SMILE JAR. Ok let me explane its not as dumb as it sounds. I took an old jar, and started making little notes. Anything I could think of that when read would make them SIMLE. Some of them were famous quotes, Some were just my thoughts on life, some were kind words about that person. When the jar was full I wrapped it up and gave it to them.
Over the years I had forgoten about the jar, Then one day out of the blue my friend brought it up, it had been almost 5 years and they still have it and read the little notes when ever they are in need of a smile.

Sometimes its not the amount of money that you spend but the thought that goes into it.

2. another thing I have done, I have this friend that no matter how hard I try I always forget their birthday. So this year i was determined to remeber. SO each day for almost a month I sent them a birthday poem that I had written just for them. Just a little something to let them know that I cared and was thinking of them.

Just a few ideas of the many that I have done for people over the years that cost nothing at all.

I think everyone has their own version of crazy. I know I'm crazy, and I often classify it as "good crazy", whereas my mother in law can at time be classified as "bad crazy". :) It's the parts of our personality that are extreme and what makes us all the complex women we are. My friends would say I'm crazy because I let my son jump from high off his play set to the ground and run around in the back yard naked. I think one of my girlfriend's is crazy because she reads too much on webmd & is constantly sure her kids could have a terminal illness. We're all crazy. We just have moments in between the crazy, right?

My BFF is my sister, Valerie. She would have been my BFF regardless of whether she was my sister -- she's just the best. She's got my back, she's the wind beneath my wings, she raises me up so I can stand on her shoulders. Everything she does is to help me succeed, to be happy, to grow, to be comforted, to have a great life. I try to do the same for her. I suspect she's a little better at it than I am, though! So what makes a BFF? I believe it's more than going through something rough together. I think you have to have certain traits in common (similarities, not differences). Some of the things I look for, and she does as well, are: honesty in the relationship or it can't go deeper, transparency of each of us, humility, good judgement, forgiveness, fun, a comfortability bc of common morals & spirituality & values, someone who has my best interests at heart, someone who is THERE for me -- in good times and in bad, someone who will go the extra mile, someone who knows me and loves me regardless, someone who tries to love me as the Lord loves me -- and I them, someone I can trust and who can trust me (whether it be with our lives or with one of our children or whatever), someone who lets me stand on their shoulders or is my wind -- so I can stand high and soar -- amongst other traits -- that my BFF Valerie!

Cammy Jo and Sherry - I love how you love your BFFs and being one! It is a super special title to hold - and one with responsibility and pride!!

Thanks for sharing and for being a BFF! Debba

p.s. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to include Abby's comment about her BFFs in our newsletter. Such a sweet sentiment!

Cammy Jo, no you're not the only grown woman who still loves to hear you're someone's BF. Those words carry a very special meaning, especially in the girlfriend world. It makes you feel you're loved and special in someone's life other than family, and that's something to smile and feel good about. ;)

So time appropriate for my life right now. Well, I guess I should say my 8 year olds life. When my Abby talks about her friends, they are all her best friends. I asked her about this last week and she said she wanted everyone to feel special. How profound!

Am I the only grow woman who still loves to hear I'm someone's best friend? Maybe so but I love it!

For the record I have a lot of Besties! I know, I know...what am I 12. ha

My BFFs change in the different chapters of my life, but I've noticed my BFFs in each chapter have served a unique purpose and we have a lot in common at the time. However my BFFs truly are the Best Friends Forever and we will never loose touch. So for me I have multiple BFFs and they hold special places in my heart.
