Cruise Ship Safety | Insight from Travel Guru Janet DeVito
February 16, 2012 – 7:42 am
Girlfriend Getaway. Those words sound wonderful don’t they? Girlfriend Guru and travel expert Janet DeVito not only thinks about traveling with wonderful women, she makes it a practice to travel and explore with friends old and new.
This month, Janet shares her thoughts about the safety of cruising in light of the Costa Concordia. (Girlfriendology.com sends our community love to all those who suffered in that disaster. We’re thinking of you.)
Two weeks ago I sat on the beach the day before boarding a Royal Caribbean cruise for our Girls Getaway Cruise. I couldn’t help but think about the tragic event that took place on the Costa Concordia earlier in the month. My heart breaks for all that experienced that accident and for those families who lost loved ones. I could only imagine how scary that was.
I consider myself a bona fide “worry wart” and Read More »

Having trotted the globe with my best friend, I have a few bits of advice to share that have helped us over some rough spots as well as to avoid future bumps in the road (or the air, whichever the case may be).
1. Decide what does and does not work for you before you firm up plans. Some of my friends are okay with sharing a room (or even a bed) for the sake of economy—some are not. Some of us rock stand-by and pray for those Read More »

Spending Time with “The Girls” Away from Day to Day Life
July 26, 2011 – 2:29 pm
Do you have family or friends that live far from you? And do you find your visits with them are overshadowed by daily activity so that you miss a lot of the “girlfriend” time?
Girlfriend Guru and travel guide Janet DeVito (who lead our recent ‘Girlfriend Cruise‘ which was excellent!) tells of her recent family visit — and reminds us why “getting away” is the key to getting back our “girlfriend time” in this Girlfriendology guest blog:
I am excited. Right now I am sitting on a Continental flight to South Carolina to visit my Sister and Mom who live there. (My mom is already complaining that I am stopping on my way there to see a friend.)
I have great visions of how fun it will be to Read More »
