Thankful for my Friends | Keeping the Attitude of Gratitude
November 24, 2011 – 11:19 am
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.”
Oprah Winfrey
I get asked a lot why I started Girlfriendology. I think most women find the topic of female friendship such a given or, on the other end of the spectrum, most men have never considered the relationships between women to be of any interest. And sometimes, women and men, just get it. Whatever response, I don’t mind.
I tell them how in 2005, two of my good girlfriends were dealing with cancer. How I struggled for how to be a good friend to them and how it made me consciously crave being around my female friends, both the ones dealing with cancer and the rest of my friends.
I tell them how I then did some research on the relationship of female friendship and found proof that girlfriends make us Read More »

5 Tips for Hosting a Stressfree Thanksgiving | Tara Ziegmont, BlogTalkRadio
November 11, 2011 – 2:09 pm
It’s less than two weeks until ‘Turkey Day’ and the pre-holiday stress is building in a lot of our homes. How can we actually celebrate this season of gratitude without stressing over all-things-Thanksgiving?
It just part of most of our holidays – the stress from expectations to have big, fancy meals on Thanksgiving, to have a beautiful table and to all act like we’re enjoying every second of the day while many of us are just medicating our stress with tryptophan and maybe some wine.
Thankfully we’ve got just the girlfriend for girlfriend advice on taking the stress out of Thanksgiving.
Meet TARA ZIEGMONT – author of ‘Best Thanksgiving EVER.’ Tara is a blogger, mom and busy woman who decided to re-claim the spirit of Thanksgiving instead of stress by preparing and planning ahead. We’re talking with her on this BlogTalkRadio.com/Girlfriendology show and can’t wait for her great girlfriend advice. And, it starts now, with this great guest blog! (Thanks Tara!)

11/11/11, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving & #GirlfriendGratitude | Gratitude Homework
November 11, 2011 – 9:54 am
On this funny day of 11/11/11 and also Veteran’s Day (& less than two weeks to THANKSgiving), we’re feeling Grateful.
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
John F. Kennedy
We’ve been thinking about Girlfriend Gratitude a lot this month – and our gratefulness for all the blessings in our lives – freedom, our rights to go/do as we please, for safety and a warm home. We’re thankful for the Veteran’s and all the amazing people who have fought for our freedom and rights, who have sacrificed so we don’t have to. We’re thankful for our friends and family who make life worth living. When we stop to think about it, we have Read More »

Gratitude Actually …
December 1, 2010 – 6:23 pm
How’s your girlfriend gratitude?
Have you seen the movie ‘Love Actually‘? (It actually is one of our Girlfriendology favorite chick flicks!) It’s a romantic comedy based on several relationships – from a grieving husband and his son, to a wife dealing with her husband’s infidelities, to a couple who meet while working in the ‘adult film’ industry (which was a bit gratuitous to me at first, but eventually I came to over look it for the stories) and several other relationships. It’s extremely well-written and thought-out. You don’t realize it until the end, but all the relationships are intertwined in some way.
Hold that thought while weconsider this …
My BFF Cathy won an award today (Top Ten Women in Dayton Ohio). I drove up to attend the awards lunch and was so happy for the recognition she received for her contribution to numerous non-profits and activities in her region. She could have talked about all the time she spends in committees, how she’s allocated millions of dollars for her company’s foundation and her tireless volunteerism. But she didn’t. Not Read More »

Smiles, Holidays and Girlfriend Advice
November 26, 2010 – 10:43 am
Ready for the Holidays – or not?
It’s so easy to get wrapped up with the holidays. There are gifts to purchase, wrap and give. Homes to decorate – inside and out. Parties, get-togethers and luncheons. Cards to make/purchase, sign and send. Pressure to be ready for unexpected gifts or multiple events on the same evening. As well as the added pressure we put on ourselves to keep that ‘holiday spirit’ going through this hectic season.
What we may need is a little girlfriend advice and perspective. So, today we’re interviewing an inspiring woman who has a different way of looking at the holidays. She’s CEZARINA TRONE and she’s going to be on our special ‘Black Friday’ edition of our BlogTalkRadio/Girlfriendology show from 2-2:30pm ET TODAY.
Check out the following guest blog on how three years in West Africa taught Cezarina a little lesson for the holidays that we can all benefit from – and LISTEN IN today for Read More »
