Put Down Your Stress! | Life Lessons Girlfriends Share

November 17, 2011 – 2:12 pm

Friendship Save the earth chocolateThe Benefits of female friendship, chocolate and laughter … less stress!

My aunt sends me mass emails. Sometimes they’re scams (which often aren’t really scams) or amazing videos of powerful telescopes viewing the heavens. Sometimes they’re funny stories with a message – like these Life Lessons and sometimes they’re just inspiring mass-distributed (and therefore unattributed to the writer – I apologize to whomever you are!) parables like the following.

Like a girlfriend, she’s just sharing what she thinks is something a woman would benefit from reading/seeing/viewing. So this one is from my beautiful aunt. Hope it Read More »

Tax Stress Solution: Spend time with your Friends

April 15, 2011 – 9:04 am

Tax Day not a fun day? Stressed out by your taxes? Friendship two girlfriends on laptop

April 15th. The dreaded (by many of us!) Tax Day. Sure, we get until April 18th to file/pay this year, it’s still an extremely stressful time for Americans who often are dealing with other economic issues and stress. (Or is that just at my house?!) The Maryland Psychological Association shared these strategies for managing money stress:

The looming IRS tax deadline of April 18 may be stressful for many Americans. Stress related to tax deadlines can increase reliance on the unhealthy behaviors, such as Read More »

Stressed? Overwhelmed? You need some Girlfriend Time! | Shelley E. Taylor, Inspiring Women

March 3, 2011 – 12:22 pm

Friendship yoga girlfriendsFive years ago, I felt a strong, very conscious ‘need’ to be around my girlfriends.

Two of my friends were dealing with cancer and I was very distressed over them. But my instinct to be near girlfriends wasn’t just to be around them, it was to spend time with any of my female friends.

I did a little research and discovered that women’s need for female friends is biological. (See ‘The Tending Instinct,’ by Shelley E. Taylor.) Female friendship makes us healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and feel more beautiful.

In fact, this book also covered women and stress. Previously it was believed that women and men responded to stress in the same way: ‘fight or flight.’ Eventually the stress research was done on women and showed (amazing!) – that we’re different! We respond to stress with ‘tend and befriend.’ When stressed, we want to take care of our children and we have the need to be Read More »

De-Stress Yourself & your Holidays

December 14, 2010 – 12:02 am

It’s the hectic holidays. How’s your stress level girlfriend?Friendship girlfriends night out

As a friend, we care about things like the stress in your life. We want to make your life better and to see you happy and with minimal stress. Why? Because we’re your friend!

At the holidays, it’s nearly impossible to be stress-free or even to try to reduce stress. We have parties to attend and give, gifts to buy and wrap, cards to sign and send (& in my case make – what a terrible tradition!), homes to decorate, friends and family to visit, and schedules to juggle. Then there’s the calories consumed and attempts to exercise them back off. The land of the stress-free might as well be on the North Pole because it isn’t to be found in the lives of busy women over the holidays!

So, what should we do? What’s the stress-free solution? Well, as your ‘official girlfriend inspiration, appreciation and celebration site,’ we have some Read More »

A friend of yours is stressed. Things aren’t going exactly the way she hoped. It might be financial, health, relationship, or family issues – or, unfortunately, she could be dealing with more than one. Life isn’t playing fair and she feels lost.
