How do you REALLY feel about your Facebook girlfriends?

Mashable reported/implied this week that we women (no mention of guys and their online friendships) basically don’t really like our Facebook female friends. In fact, from Mashable’s article:

Most women — 83% of respondents in this survey — are annoyed at one time or another by the posts from their Facebook connections. For these respondents, the most off-putting post was some kind of whine; a full 63% said complaining from Facebook friends was their number one pet peeve, with political chatter and bragging coming in a distant second and third.

What’s your girlfriend ‘Klout’ score?

Are you an Influencer? Networker? Specialist? Curator? Thought-leader? Conversationalist?

These all are definitions of the type of Social Media person you may be based on Klout.com. Klout studies your Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn stats and calculates the amount of influence you have in the social media world. Klout believes that when you have a presence online, you have influence – you have a voice, and it’s heard.

Month of Friendship – Day 3 – Social Media ‘Friends’

Who’s your friend?

Is a Facebook friend really a ‘friend?’ Social media has changed the face of friendship by offering us hundreds to thousands to hundreds of thousands of connections with ‘friends’ 24/7/365 and anywhere we can take our phone or laptop. We can find a long lost friend, make new ones, see who is friends with whom and even ignore/block friends. We can find out about their lives, have conversations, ‘like’ them or hide their voice. Yes, social media has added a whole new language and way to speak it between ‘friends.’

In 2008, Rapleaf predicted that ‘the internet would be pink‘ – meaning predominantly female. Research shows that women use three times the words that men do each day and that social media sites (a powerful way of having ‘conversations) as shown here – “Chick’s Rule.”

Connecting and sharing life | Social media and it’s impact on friendships

I love social media. I love how it allows us to connect with others and share our lives.

I love too how it helps our friendships grow by knowing more about each other and being able to interact in our friend’s lives. Like yesterday … through Twitter I knew whom of my local friends was watching the Bengals game too. I knew my friend Carole ran into my friend Rob at church yesterday.
