A Love Affair with My House | Insight from Real Estate Guru Cathy Perry

February 29, 2012 – 10:54 am

Realtor selling your house home sale St Louis concierge realtorWe can’t believe February is almost over! And here with one more love story is our own Real Estate Girlfriend Guru CATHY PERRY.

She is not a fan of Valentine’s Day, but as she tells us in this month’s blog, she loves her home.

I am, on occasion, a procrastinator, and I have been badly delinquent in my February submission to Girlfriendology. I spent way more time than I should have trying to figure out how to link something topical about real estate to the major event in February – Valentine’s Day. My challenge was made doubly hard by the fact that I’ve had an aversion to the day of hearts and flowers since my divorce from my first husband was finalized on Read More »

Should I Stay or Should I Go? | Advice from Real Estate Guru Cathy Perry

January 24, 2012 – 9:25 am

Realtor selling your house home sale St Louis concierge realtorHave you ever had one of those days when you look around  and it seems that the only options are to take a wrecking ball to the house and start over or immediately begin packing to move?

Girlfriend Guru and Real Estate expert Cathy Perry shares her tips for figuring out when to renovate and when to move on.

Have you seen the HGTV show Love It or List It? In case you haven’t, it features a couple who are torn between moving from a home that is no longer workable for them and remodeling it to make it work.  A real estate agent tries to convince them to “list it,” and an interior designer leads a remodeling effort to make them “love it.”  Drama and Read More »

Helping Mom and Dad Sell the Family Home | Girlfriend Advice from Our Real Estate Guru

December 14, 2011 – 8:01 am

Realtor selling your house home sale St Louis concierge realtorAre you part of the increasing percentage of women whose parents are getting older and considering (or thinking about considering) selling their home?

Whether it’s to downsize, move to a warmer climate, or move to a new type of living facility, senior moves can be very different than moves at a much younger age. Girlfriend Guru and Real Estate expert Cathy Perry shares some tips for making the sale of mom and dad’s home easier.

One of the harder facts about getting older is that our parents are aging, too.   And whether it happens sooner or later, at some point Mom and Dad are going to want or need to sell the family home. Whether they are downsizing to a villa on a sunny golf course or making the decision to move to a retirement or assisted living community, selling their home is likely to be difficult for them, and possibly for you as well, especially if it is the home you grew up in.  Here are some keys to selling without Read More »

Home (For Sale?) for the Holidays | Girlfriend Advice from Real Estate Guru Cathy Perry

November 16, 2011 – 8:29 am

Realtor selling your house home sale St Louis concierge realtorAre you (or a girlfriend) thinking of selling a home? In real estate, timing is crucial.

In this blog, Real Estate Girlfriend Guru Cathy Perry talks about how (and whether) to list a home now or wait until after the holidays.

One question a lot of potential sellers ask at this time of year is whether they should wait until after the first of the year to put their home on the market.  As with most things real estate, there are pros and cons for both listing now and for waiting.

On the positive side, some existing sellers will Read More »

One Listing I was Glad to Lose! | From Girlfriend Guru Cathy Perry

October 24, 2011 – 6:11 am

Realtor selling your house home sale St Louis concierge realtorWe have heard some amazing stories about women’s health during October, haven’t we, girlfriend? Real Estate Girlfriend Guru Cathy Perry shares a story about how breast cancer touched a dear friend and her business simultaneously.

My best girlfriend has had, to say the least, a horrible year, or in the words of Queen Elizabeth in describing the year 1992 for the Royal Family, an “annus horribilis.” 2011 started for her with her husband’s work relocation to Denver after living in suburban St. Louis since 1999. Neither of them looked forward to this move, for a variety of reasons. They called upon me to put their beautiful home on the market in the spring, a job I accepted with mixed thoughts – as an agent, I’m happy that they trusted me with this important transaction, but as her BFF, we’ve become like family and have developed traditions that span all holidays of the year, and both of us hated Read More »

Lessons from a Girlfriend – Podcast interview with KAIRA ROUDA

May 8, 2008 – 5:42 pm

Friendship Kaira RoudaI know, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, but you can make a pretty good assessment of the book by talking with the author. You can tell by listening to KAIRA STRUDIVANT ROUDA that she knows ‘her stuff’ and that she has the knowledge and passion to really launch entrepreneurial women.

President of Real Living (one of the fastest growing real estate company in the U.S.) and creator of the Real Living brand, Kaira is passionate about entrepreneurism, marketing and the power of women in the workforce and beyond. A published author, journalist, marketing executive and business owner, she built her career by working in marketing for national brands and large regional advertising agencies. She is also a contributing writer and editor for national and regional publications. In addition to this, and an active volunteer schedule, Kaira is also a wife and mother of four. (& check out her great guest blog on ‘How to Re-connect with Friends‘ and her updated BlogTalkRadio interview!).

With all this, Kaira found time to talk with Girlfriendology on our podcast about her new book – Real You Incorporated: 8 Essentials for Women Entrepreneurs. Together we discussed the importance of female friendship (aka: support) as an entrepreneur and we learned a lot, like these ‘Lessons from a Girlfriend’:

  • BE YOU – This book is no fluff. It is a great guide to living a life you love and creating a career of your dreams. As the title references, you need to be ‘you’ to be a happy, fulfilled, successful entrepreneur. The book helps you identify your ‘word’ – a description that is the core to building the career and lifestyle that is uniquely perfect for YOU. And, Kaira (whose word is “visionary” – which is true!) shows us how YOU are the brand and how that is a very good thing. (Read the book – you’ll agree!)
  • HAVE TIME FOR YOU – Kaira’s days are filled with running a successful company, fulfilling her book PR, volunteering and more – PLUS being a wife and mother of four. The most frequent question asked of her is “How do you do it?!” Listen in for her answer and be prepared to be inspired from a realistic and inspiring woman! (Great lesson there!)
  • DREAM BIG - Kaira believes you hold the cards (and the real you) to a wonderful, BIG life. In fact, in her book she wrote: “Allow yourself to think big, be ambitious. This is your life, so get it right.” Such a great reminder on the important things in life and the role we all need to take in getting our life right.

Women are starting businesses at twice the rate of men and 1 out of 11 women are an entrepreneur – that’s a lot of us! Maybe there’s an entrepreneurial dream inside you (or a girlfriend) or perhaps you just need to jumpstart your goals.

Listen to Kaira on this inspiring podcast.

Read an excerpt, check out Kaira’s web site and definitely get her book Real You Incorporated (for you and/or a friend). Isn’t it comforting to know that the woman you dream to be, is already inside of YOU – just waiting to emerge!? Thanks Kaira for your interview, book and overall guidance. We all benefit by your visionary inspiration!
