Favorite Girlfriend Gifts on Pinterest | What would you love to give/receive?
May 1, 2012 – 3:58 pm
The greatest gift is a portion of thyself. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Giving handmade and/or thoughtful gifts is such a great way to show a friend how much her friendship means to you.
We women know this – a personalized present is much better than receiving an expected gift. We love to be thoughtfully surprised with a gift that says ‘You’re special to me. You deserve a special gift.’
Pinterest has inspired lots of creative, crafty and even DIY gifts that are perfect for girlfriend gifts – everything from jewelry to home accessories, coffee gifts to chocolate, books to bags – and anything else that might brighten a girlfriend’s birthday, holiday or just turn an everyday into a special day. (What Etsy finds would you love to give a friend? What creative blog posts can you share to inspire others? NOTE: our Fave Etsy Finds Pinterest Board and our Pinterest Pinboard of Girlfriend Gifts.)
Giving handmade and/or thoughtful gifts is a wonderful way to show a friend how special her friendship is to you (or just finding that one perfect thing to make her day – something no one else would know to give her that she’ll love!). Share your favorite girlfriend gifts to give or receive – Etsy handmade gifts, calming gifts, chocolate gifts, gifts of gratitude, blog posts of gifts you’ve given/made, even books/etc. that you know a friend would love to receive. INSPIRE others to give great girlfriend gifts!
We’ve added some of our favorites below and we welcome you to share yours. What gifts would you love to give to or receive from a girlfriend? What presents would make your day if a friend made or gave them to you? What inspires you to Read More »

Girlfriend Love and The City | Perspectives from Guru Jessica Drummond
February 9, 2012 – 9:49 am
When was the last time you had the beautiful opportunity to share an experience through someone elses eyes? Maybe it was with a child or maybe it was with a girlfriend as she experienced something brand new.
Sharing great experiences with friends makes us feel younger, more alive, and strengthens the bonds of already tightly cemented friendships. Girlfriend Guru and Guest blogger JESSICA DRUMMOND shares her thoughts on being inspired by adventure.
My 8-year old daughter absolutely loves Manhattan aka “The City.” We took the train in on Saturday with one of her many little BFF’s and her BFF’s mom to see a children’s improv show by The Story Pirates. (Side note: If you are ever in NYC with kids, see this show. It is incredible.)
NYC is a high-energy city. The creativity (and the traffic) abounds. Some people find it hectic, overwhelming or crowded, but these little girls drank in the energy of the streets like Red Bull. They were completely Read More »

6 Years of Girlfriendology, 6 Years of Girlfriend Support | Life is Good
January 20, 2012 – 11:45 am
What’s your girlfriend story? What things have you done because your girlfriend(s) believed in you? What dreams do your friend encourage?
Six years ago I struggled with why I ‘needed’ my girlfriends so much. Two of my dear friends, Dana and Allison, were fighting cancer and I was consciously aware of needing to be with my female friends (both of them and other wonderful women in my life). It was so strong that I created a blog to explore it. I called it ‘Girlfriendology’ and started exploring why women need each other so deeply.
Fortunately I found a profound book, The Tending Instinct by Shelley E. Taylor, which studied our need for female friendship and shared research findings and examples that proved – we actually do NEED girlfriends. In fact, female friendship makes women healthier, happier, less Read More »

Celebrating … 5 Years of Inspiration, Appreciation & Celebration of Girlfriends
January 6, 2011 – 6:23 pm
Time flies when you’re having fun … with your girlfriends!
Five years ago this month I started Girlfriendology. It was just a dream (that grew (-: ) of inspiring women to appreciate and celebrate the wonderful gift of female friendship. Initially, it was inspired by two girlfriends who were dealing with cancer, Allison and Dana. Their struggles and prognosis made me want to be with my girlfriends, not just them but all of the wonderful women in my life.
I did a little research to explore the dynamics of female friendship and if we really needed it in our lives and found a wonderful book that confirmed everything I had been thinking - The Tending Instinct, by Shelley E. Taylor. There’s proof – we NEED girlfriends! So, Girlfriendology.com launched to promote, inspire and celebrate female friendship.
It’s grown over the past five years to be a wonderful (and, might I add, beautiful!) community of women. We have over 20,000 (primarily) women as our Twitter followers, 13,000+ female Facebook Friends, and receive over 100,000 female impressions DAILY – Read More »

Girlfriendology Update: Hugs & ‘Random’ Girlfriend Advice
October 18, 2010 – 9:03 pm
I just returned from BlogWorldExpo* – a big social media conference in Las Vegas. (I’d tell you more about it but they make you agree to ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!’) The one thing I can tell you is that having friends is a wonderful thing.
I’ve attended enough conferences in this online community to have developed friendships – some great friendships. I’ve met AMAZING women like Katja Presnal, aka: Skimbaco, who is inspiring with her lifestyle blog and brand in the U.S. and is huge in her homeland of Finland. I’ve become friends with both the BEAUTIFUL Beth Rosen, aka: TheMidlifeWife, and Duong Sheahan, aka: Digital Girlfriends, both of whom have fabulous energy that inspires everyone who meets them. And I’ve been inspired by wonderful women like Glenda Watson Hyatt, Read More »

Be a better friend – in the Highs and Lows
July 30, 2010 – 10:15 am
Ever have one of those weeks? HIGH highs and LOW lows – and everything in between?
Last week my DH (aka: ‘dear husband’) was out of town. My plan was to diet, exercise and do lots of work. Reality: I did pretty well on my eating healthy (he wasn’t around to spoil me with carbs!) and got the treadmill in a few times as well as a bunch of dog walks. I did work lots but maybe not quite as much as I anticipated.
Why not? My girlfriends. I had a happy hour with Tina, Becky and Lynn. (High high) Wine on the porch with Anne. Another happy hour with the Cincinnati.com LOL Bloggers (thanks Chris & co.!). I had meeting with Bridgett and went to a movie with Penny. All HIGH highs. It was a wonderful way to enjoy the week by reconnecting with so many of my favorite females.
The big HIGH and LOW came on Saturday. I attended a Read More »

Be a Better Friend – Freedom and Friendship
July 2, 2010 – 9:18 am
I love my independence. I love that I can read, shop, eat and dress as I please. I love that I can travel, own property, have a business and make my own decisions. I can vote, worship and express my opinion. I love the freedom and protection bought by the dedication of decades of women and men.
And fortunately, that independence allows me the opportunity to be dependent. I’m blessed to have a dependable husband, new roof (yeah!), dog (the cat isn’t always dependable!) and 4-year old car. And I’m so honored to have friends, on whom I can depend. Thoughtful, helpful, wonderful, beautiful girlfriends who are there for me to get together with for a movie (thanks Julie!), to take care of Read More »
