You know how sometimes you and a girlfriend see the exact same thing and yet describe it completely differently? We decided it would be fun to send two of our fab friends out together and have them both write about the experience. We sent Nutrition Guru LISA MCDANIEL BROWN and the ever hilarious FAUX DIET QUEEN out to a local Whole Foods grocery store to see what would happen. Not only did the Faux Diet Queen (FDQ to her friends) learn something a bit more than she ever thought she could, they had a great time (no surprise there).

We all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, beauty is more than skin deep, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…and yet, we spend countless hours reading beauty magazines, trying new products (we’re still searching for the perfect mascara here at Girlfriendology), slathering on skin creams and hair potions. And that’s just so we can make it as far as the coffee maker.

The Faux Diet Queen doesn’t always believe she’s beautiful (even though we know she is). And she has always struggled in her battle with the scale. This week, she takes a look at real beauty. We want to know how you define ‘real  beauty.’ Let us know in the comments section below.

Six years ago, on January 20th, 2006, Girlfriendology.com was ‘born.’ It started from a response to two girlfriends, Dana and Allison, dealing with cancer, as well as just a need to be around female friends. A little research confirmed – there’s a reason we NEED girlfriends! Female friendship actually makes women healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and feel more beautiful.

So, I started blogging about female friendship. I was inspired by the amazing women who shared their stories about their girlfriends, who confirmed that our female friendship keep us afloat when we think we’re drowning.   • Take a walk with a Girlfriend(s) – Nothing like a few blocks, trails or miles to catch up on our lives and reduce our stress with a little ‘girlfriend therapy.’ Plus, it doesn’t seem like exercise when we’re laughing and sharing stories and time with our favorite walking buddies. Set a regular walking time like every Saturday morning or Tuesday after work. Then schedule anything else around that time. Make exercising, and your friendships, a priority.
