Be a Good Friend – BE HAPPY | Girlfriend Advice, Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo
February 17, 2012 – 12:27 pm
Are you HAPPY girlfriend? Are your friends HAPPY too?
As a friend, it’s only natural that we want our girlfriends to be happy. We get joy from their joy and smiles when they smile, too – right? And, vice versa. Their happiness depends on ours too. It’s a wonderful circle – when we’re happy.
LISTEN IN to our GREAT interview with DR. ELIZABETH LOMBARDO – she knows a thing or two about HAPPINESS. She’s the author of ‘A Happy You‘ and Shaquille O’Neal says “Dr. Lombardo is my head coach for happiness.”

Healthy Trends: Female Friendship | Benefits of Girlfriends
February 19, 2011 – 4:02 pm
Funny. I received an email telling me the benefits of female friendship recently. Me! The cheerleader for girlfriends, the founder of Girlfriendology.
I love that the benefits of girlfriends is a trending topic. In fact, the email presented quite a few excerpt from research and reports including this from “Relationships Improve Your Odds of Survival by 50 Percent, Research Finds” Science Daily, 7/28/2010
“Social connections – friends, family, neighbors or colleagues – improve our odds of survival by 50 percent. Here is how low social interaction compares to more well-known risk factors: Equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, equivalent to being an alcoholic, more harmful than Read More »

Happiness, Stress and the Girlfriendology Survey
November 8, 2010 – 3:54 pm
Girlfriend – How happy are you? How stressed?
A friend of yours is stressed. Things aren’t going exactly the way she hoped. It might be financial, health, relationship, or family issues – or, unfortunately, she could be dealing with more than one. Life isn’t playing fair and she feels lost.
We can all relate. We’ve been there and hopefully we’ve found our way stressful situations to a happier life. We know that feeling of wanting our friend to be happy. We can relate to wanting to relieve some, heck any, of her stress.
As girlfriends, we care about our friends’ stress and happiness. We want to do anything in our power to relieve her stress and make sure she’s Read More »

Oprah asks: What would it take to you make you Happier?
April 15, 2010 – 10:41 am
Oprah asked. And we’re answering.
This month’s O Magazine is the 10th anniversary issue. (Congrats Oprah!) Editorially, as you would expect for celebrating a milestone, they chose to explore common themes and favorite recipes, and ask BIG questions like “What would it take to make you Happier?”
The article notes that two Wharton professors found (last May) that women are less happy today than we were a generation ago. That’s not a great place to start – considering that we always have such high hopes for what the future holds. And those hopes from years ago, didn’t happen to happen. Oprah and her editors recognized that we need to Read More »

Happiness – What makes you happy?
April 5, 2010 – 9:53 pm

Girlfriends make us healthier, less stressed, live longer AND happier.
Happiness is a strange thing. To me it may be found in just a little natural sunlight and Spring bulbs. To you it might come from a hug from a dear child or a laugh with coworker. To others it could come from having and spending money, traveling the globe or having your cat sleep on your lap as you work on the computer (like mine is right now). It’s kind of the elusive factor that helps us the challenge of achieving happiness and enjoy our life.
Recently I had the privilege of hearing Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, speak when I was at SXSW. Her book/project (with tagline: “Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun“) about happiness profiled her life for a year as she focused Read More »

Call it what you want …
September 18, 2009 – 11:50 am
… girlfriends, BFFs, girls, gal pals, book club, knitting friends, neighbors, coworkers, sisters … whatever.
Call it what you want, but it basically comes down to “women supporting women.” Helping each other with the big and little things. Being there for each other in all areas of our lives. We’re just females who look out for each other and help one another grow into our best self.
This week’s newsletter starts with the message that, while some women might feel they’re too old or serious for ‘girlfriends,’ that it really is just another way of saying ‘women supporting women.’ And that’s a very good thing.
If you don’t get this newsletter, sign up on the left (Join the Newsletter) tab. We promise to send you weekly support, inspiration and all the virtual hugs you can handle. (-;
