Six Years of Female Friendship | Girlfriends Rule!

We all have a story. And most times they involve our friends, our wonderful, dearly loved girlfriends!
The story of Girlfriendology began with a girlfriend story (as, of course, it should!). Two girlfriends, Dana and Allison, were dealing with cancer. I was overwhelmed with a need to be around my female friends – not just Dana and Allison, but all my friends. I wanted to spend time with my girlfriends to learn how to be a better friend to Dana and Allison. I wanted to be near the wonderful women in my life to give me strength and knowledge.
So, I created Girlfriendology as a ‘love letter’ to my friends.
That was six years (1/20/06), 1600+ blog posts, 275+ interviews with inspiring women (podcasts and BlogTalkRadio shows), 25+ blogger/social media conferences, a TV commercial and national newspaper ad feature, dozens of advertisers and sponsors (most recently our new sponsor Biz Stain Fighter signed on for our Read More »

Girlfriendology grows in 2011 – Expands Advertising and Sponsorships in 2012. Great Opportunities for Brands/Businesses to be ‘Girlfriend Recommended.’
2011 has been a challenging year for so many – people and businesses. It’s definitely been a ‘hunker down’ and focus year of moving forward no matter what obstacles or challenges have faced us. I’m happy to say, that I’m predicting that hard work is going to pay off in 2012! (:

Thankful for my Friends | Keeping the Attitude of Gratitude

I get asked a lot why I started Girlfriendology. I think most women find the topic of female friendship such a given or, on the other end of the spectrum, most men have never considered the relationships between women to be of any interest. And sometimes, women and men, just get it. Whatever response, I don’t mind.
I tell them how in 2005, two of my good girlfriends were dealing with cancer. How I struggled for how to be a good friend to them and how it made me consciously crave being around my female friends, both the ones dealing with cancer and the rest of my friends.

Attitude of Gratitude | Girlfriends to the rescue!

Do you have an attitude of gratitude? Are you feeling grateful, thankful, blessed? Let’s talk about that …
Veteran’s Day … thankful for the brave women and men who have fought for our freedom, for the friends and family who have sacrificed their beloved to keep us safe and for the leaders who watch out over us. It’s a good time to remember that #LifeIsGood – right?
Thanksgiving … thankful for the pilgrims and travelers, the brave and the (sorry to say it, but possibly true) stupid who got on boats and found there way here. Grateful for the tradition they started of being appreciative of the little things in life … a little corn, a small bird to feast on, a warm hut to sleep in. Things we now take for granted – it’s great to be reminded to be grateful.

It’s what girlfriends do – we share our lives. The fun, frugal, faith, food, friendship stuff – we share with our girlfriends!
I love my girlfriends. I love that they can know me and love me, even when we have different ways of looking at things. I love that we can be sister-friends who don’t care about politics or religion, we just care about each other’s lives and happiness. I so love that we can think differently about some things but know that we’re as close as twins just from being best friends. My girlfriends are my sisters and I love that!
