A blog is like a home. It shows personality and passions, displays all the things that decorate life and is a wonderful place to greet friends. So, welcome girlfriend! Here at the Girlfriendology blog, we chat about life as a woman, a girlfriend, an entrepreneur and all the big and little things in life that make it much more fun to experience with a friend. Grab a cup of tea or coffee and make yourself at home!
Remember ‘Trick or Treat’-ing? Dressing up silly or scary? Going out with your friends? Parties, candy, and more candy?
We might be ‘in-illegible’ for candy collection at our age, but that’s no reason to miss out on this season of hanging out with friends and enjoying fun Fall traditions. So, we’ve got some Halloween girlfriend recommendations* to share with our friends on having a fun, friend-filled ‘Falloween:’
Just like other relationships, sometimes we have to work at things to keep them fresh. If your girlfriend conversations are the same as they were years ago, you don’t seem to have time for each other or if you’d rather read a good book than get together with your girlfriend, you need to keep reading!
Do you have friends nearby? Do you need some new friends in your life?
It’s so important to have a support system of friends. So important! While online and long distance friends are amazing, sometimes you just need to go have a glass of wine or get a manicure together with your ‘bestie’ (BFF). What happens when your BFF is across the country? Is that normal to need new friends?
It’s September and we’re celebrating the Month of Friendship with some of our girlfriends, like SHASTA NELSON who share this inspiration with us on what’s the norm when it comes to friends. Enjoy!
Needing New Friends is Normal!
When I moved to San Francisco, I had an amazing circle of friends spread across the country but soon realized that as much as I loved Facebook and my iPhone—I certainly didn’t want Read More »
Some because we get the day off work (thank you Presidents Lincoln and Washington), some out of respect (Labor Day and Memorial Day), some based on relationships like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. We show our love on Valentine’s Day, our gratitude on Thanksgiving and our history on the 4th of July. We even go so far as to recognize our passions with National Ice Cream Month and Rubber Duckie Day, our fears – National Mold Awareness Month (yikes!) and pretend everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
It’s wonderful when women work together to promote and support each other. We’re honored to be in the company of great girlfriends and great girlfriend blogs.
As girlfriends, we recommend cool things to our friends – shopping sales, great books, tasty recipes, chick flicks and more. So, a few of us ‘girlfriend bloggers’ got together to introduce you to our friends – other women and their blogs who inspire women to be better friends.
In 2010 we formed the ‘Friendship Circle’ with four other female friendship blogs. We basically just support and promote each other – and that’s a very good thing! In 2011, we’ve revised the group to add in some new amazing women and their blogs/communities so, check out these girlfriend-ly blogs in this ‘Friendship Circle‘:

For girlfriend get togethers, girl’s night outs, showers, parties, all kinds of celebrations – we like to ‘partake’ together as a way of sharing substance verbally and of the digestible type! Read More »
Lucky for us, there are LOTS of ways to celebrate girlfriends!
Parties, gifts, making memories together are just a few of the simple ways. But, with creative women out there, often we find alternative ways to recognize and remember the wonderful women in our life who we call our girlfriends. Read More »
When visiting Minneapolis recently I had dinner with my friends Amy and Kate and two of Amy’s girlfriends. Over soups and wine to thaw our chilly bodies, were conversations, laughter, sharing and caring – the kind that warm your soul and remind me how special female friendship is to me. It was a fun, low-key evening where, I believe, everyone left feeling wrapped in ‘girlfriendship.’
The current Girlfriendology Contest is about Girl’s Night Out (GNO), Girlfriend Events (birthdays, showers, celebrations) or just Girlfriend Get-togethers. It doesn’t have to be a formal event with invitations, special attire or limos. Getting together with girlfriends can be casual or dressy, festive or reflective, lots of friends together or just two girlfriends catching up on life. What matters is that time is spent together, that friendships are grown and we can be ourselves with women who love us for who we truly are.
What is your favorite GNO or girlfriends event? Was it a special birthday or dinner in the home of a girlfriend? Was it just coffee together or a much needed walk-talk? I’d love to share your ideas, stories, amusing tales – from recent events or even times growing up when you spent quality time with your best girlfriends and how those memories make you happy. Share – you’ll inspire others.(And, join the contest and win Starbucks gift cards so you can take your girlfriend out for coffee on Girlfriendology!) Have fun girlfriends!
