The SuperBowl of Stains?! Don’t Sweat the ‘After Party’

February 1, 2012 – 5:17 pm

Friendship football superbowl military partyAs girlfriends we love to spend time together (like at SuperBowl parties!) as well as share helpful girlfriend advice. We’ve combined the two to get you ready for the potential ‘SuperBowl of Stains’ this weekend!

Our friends at Biz Stain Fighter (super supportive sponsor of Girlfriendology in 2012!) know just the right girlfriend advice for this wild weekend of Superbowl parties and stains!

The big game is just days away and I can’t wait. Let’s face it girlfriends, we love the party food (minus the calories). Buffalo chicken dip, salsa, messy wings, dogs with ketchup and mustard, along with a little wine and we’re all set for some severe staining. Hopefully it only ends up on the clothes vs. the carpet and furniture. A room full of football fans and you never know when they will erupt.

Relax and enjoy, it only happens once a year. Don’t worry about the mess. Just add Biz Stain Fighter and Mean Green Multi-purpose Cleaner & Degreaser to your shopping lists, for the “After Party.” Get them both at Read More »

The Faux Diet Queen | Year End Interview with Girlfriendology

January 13, 2012 – 10:25 am

weight loss fdqThe Faux Diet Queen (or as we affectionately call her, FDQ) has agreed to share her latest (and last) weight loss journey with us as a regular feature at Girlfriendology. We hope you’ll join us to cheer her on, nudge her back on track when she strays, and generally giggle along.

At the start of the new year, we thought it would be a good idea to visit with the Faux Diet Queen and see what was on her mind for 2012. So we sent our intern, let’s call her Leslie, out to meet and interview the ever-inventive FDQ. This may not have been the world’s best idea since Read More »

What’s your Niche Girlfriend? | #NAMS, Friendship & What’s to come …

August 22, 2011 – 11:33 pm

Friendship Facebook Twitter Girlfriendology Community FriendsYour friends care about what you care about, right? Friends notice what you like or don’t like. Girlfriends pay attention to the special things that make you YOU.

That’s just what friends do. We pay attention to your likes and dislikes, the things you’re passionate about and the people/things in your life who make you happy. And in doing so, we get to know the little things in your life that you love, the special talents and traits, and the details that make you YOU. We notice the characteristics about you that make up who you are and can often identify opportunities for which you are well-suited.

Wikipedia defines ‘niche’ as ‘any position of opportunity for which one is well-suited, such as a particular market in business.’ It comes from Old French niche, from nichier (“make a nest”) (modern French nicher), from Latin n?dus (“nest”).

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a conference based on Read More »

Girlfriends Celebrate National Lasagna Day | How Do You Pasta?

July 29, 2011 – 7:42 am

Friendship national lasagna dayHey, Girlfriend, did you know that today is National Lasagna Day?

With a tip of my hat the world’s number one lasagna-loving cat (Garfield), and to all my pasta loving girlfriends, here are some thoughts about NLD (National Lasagna Day).

It would seem like a natural to discuss lasagna without research, but because I love all my girlfriends and want to bring you the best in lasagna information, I hit the web to see what I could learn about this wonderful Italian dish.

Here’s the best thing I found: the plural of lasagna is lasagne! I’d never even thought about having more than one lasagna before. But just to keep us all sane, I will simply Read More »

Fall Friendship Traditions – Food, Fashion, Festivals

October 7, 2010 – 11:06 am

friendship fall autumn giftsHappy Fall Girlfriend!

Do you love Autumn? … cool nights replacing summer’s heat, open windows with great sleeping weather, toasted leaves hinting that things are changing, exchanging sandals for boots and sweaters for shorts?

I do. I can’t wait for the first opportunity to wear my standard dress in cold months – tights and boots. I welcome my favorite layers of sweaters and scarves. I crave comfort food like anything out of the crockpot. I love to walk through the woods and watch the neighborhood kids play in leaves. It’s a wonderful season to consciously feel Read More »

February 19, 2010 – 5:18 pm

Elvis french toastWhat does ‘balance’ mean to women and to women’s health?

Well, fortunately we have some girlfriend advice on how to find balance and specifically something we stress over – food and our relationship with it. Thanks to girlfriend TERA WARNER (who just did this BlogTalkRadio interview with us and is the co-founder of the WISH Summit – Women’s International Summit for Health.)

7 Good Reasons to Stop Being Obsessed About What You Eat

by Tera Warner

Let’s start by busting this myth:

You are not what you eat.

Daily Inspiration: Have an Adventure, Girlfriend!

January 25, 2010 – 2:23 pm

52 breakfasts copy“A true friend freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously and continues a friend unchangeably.”

William Penn

When was the last time you went on an adventure? Or you walked though an area of town that was unfamiliar? How often do you get out of your comfort zone and explore boldly?

Recognizing that we don’t know our city as well as we should, my husband and I have committed to having breakfast in each of Cincinnati’s 52 neighborhoods in 2010. (Which is not an easy challenge! Many neighborhoods don’t even have restaurants.) Read More »

New GIRLFRIENDOLOGY site – Experts Wanted!

May 20, 2008 – 1:19 pm

Orange Gerbera Daisy - the Girlfriendology symbol
Hi Girlfriends! Just wanted to share that thanks to YOU and your support and enthusiasm for ‘girlfriendship,’ GIRLFRIENDOLOGY IS GROWING! We’ve already expanded the podcasts to two/week* and we’ve added videos, as well as bunches of prizes in our May Girlfriendology Contest! We’re busy updating the website and plan to launch it this summer.

Now, we’re adding more of YOU! We’re looking for experts to be the girlfriends we want to talk with when we have a question or just need some advice. You’d be part of our network which would mean that we would publish your stories, advice, articles on your area of expertise as well as interviews on our podcasts, etc.

Specifically, we need the following experts: a Mom (or a couple, depending on age of your children, specialties and other factors), Crafts, Fashion, Food, Travel, Books, Small/Home Business and other general women’s topics.

You must be friendly, fun, helpful, a good writer, an expert in your field and willing to provide blog articles and assist with podcasts on a regular basis. In exchange, Girlfriendology will promote you and your site/blog on Girlfriendology.com, podcasts and upcoming events and opportunities.

If you or a friend are qualified and interested, please contact debba(at)girlfriendology(dot)com. Thanks girlfriends!

* And with two podcasts/week, we need more ‘girlfriend authors and experts’ to interview. Please send us your ideas! And listen in for our recent KATE JACOBS interview and coming conversations with CAROL DUVALL and DEBBIE MACOMBER!
