Six years ago, on January 20th, 2006, Girlfriendology.com was ‘born.’ It started from a response to two girlfriends, Dana and Allison, dealing with cancer, as well as just a need to be around female friends. A little research confirmed – there’s a reason we NEED girlfriends! Female friendship actually makes women healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and feel more beautiful.

So, I started blogging about female friendship. I was inspired by the amazing women who shared their stories about their girlfriends, who confirmed that our female friendship keep us afloat when we think we’re drowning. Women shared their lives and how their girlfriends had been there for them when they so needed it. We all know that feeling!

  • Take a walk with a Girlfriend(s) – Nothing like a few blocks, trails or miles to catch up on our lives and reduce our stress with a little ‘girlfriend therapy.’ Plus, it doesn’t seem like exercise when we’re laughing and sharing stories and time with our favorite walking buddies. Set a regular walking time like every Saturday morning or Tuesday after work. Then schedule anything else around that time. Make exercising, and your friendships, a priority. You’ll be glad (and healthier) you did!

Because … WE ARE AMAZING WOMEN! We have the fantastic opportunity – right now – to make it a wonderful 2012.

We have the power to go after our dreams, to encourage our friends and to be the better friend who just may make another woman’s life better too. We can show others what it means to be supportive, inspiring and thoughtful. We can model to our children and all the ‘grown children’ in our world what it looks like to share the spotlight, to recognize the people who bless our lives and to practice ‘girlfriend gratitude’ and appreciate the wonderful women in our life.

That’s what we have the opportunity to do. That’s how powerful we are. That’s why 2012 is going to be great!

We notice the characteristics about you that make up who you are and can often identify opportunities for which you are well-suited.
