Fun Colors to Brighten Up Your Wardrobe | Spring Fashion Advice from Gwen Rich
April 12, 2012 – 6:25 am
I base most of my fashion sense on what doesn’t itch. ~Gilda Radner
My dog doesn’t care what I wear. As long as I’m willing to get all snuggly, he doesn’t care one bit bit whether I’m dressed in rags or sporting the latest fashions. However, my dog’s fashion sense isn’t a good enough yardstick when it comes to leaving the house and joining the real world. Then I want to pay as much attention to what looks good as I do to what feels good.
Have you ever stood in front of a closet full of clothes and lamented the fact that you have absolutely nothing to wear? Most of us feel that way on occasion–some of us feel that way pretty much every day.
Guest Blogger and Stylist GWEN RICH shares some great ideas for choosing clothes that are right on trend (we love great color in the spring) and that flatter our different body types.
As one season begins winding down and coming to a close, a new season emerges with new messages and possibilities. For most of us keeping up with the latest fashions and what to wear is Read More »

How to Give Fashion Advice to a Girlfriend without Hurting Her Feelings | Advice from Marcia Caserta
March 3, 2012 – 9:47 am
Sometimes our girlfriends ask us for advice on what to wear or how to accessorize. We’re thrilled when they take our advice, but usually not offended when they choose another option. After all, the best fashion comes from feeling great about how we’re dressed, right?
But there are times when we feel almost compelled to offer an opinion–even when we haven’t been asked to share our point of view. Guest blogger MARCIA CASERTA shares her thoughts about how, when, and whether to tell a friend what you think about her outfit.
I think we all have the friend who is a little bit, shall we say, lost when it comes to fashion. Most of my girlfriends love to go shopping with me, but I have one friend who hates Read More »

What’s your Niche Girlfriend? | #NAMS, Friendship & What’s to come …
August 22, 2011 – 11:33 pm
Your friends care about what you care about, right? Friends notice what you like or don’t like. Girlfriends pay attention to the special things that make you YOU.
That’s just what friends do. We pay attention to your likes and dislikes, the things you’re passionate about and the people/things in your life who make you happy. And in doing so, we get to know the little things in your life that you love, the special talents and traits, and the details that make you YOU. We notice the characteristics about you that make up who you are and can often identify opportunities for which you are well-suited.
Wikipedia defines ‘niche’ as ‘any position of opportunity for which one is well-suited, such as a particular market in business.’ It comes from Old French niche, from nichier (“make a nest”) (modern French nicher), from Latin n?dus (“nest”).
This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a conference based on Read More »

We know the one(s) – she is always the trend-setter girlfriend among your friends and can even seem to find designer clothes, etc. at a discount. How does she do that?! (Hopefully, she’ll take you with her when she goes shopping to show you how!) She looks FABULOUS always and shows off her sense of style wherever she goes.
Well, this week we’re exploring designer-ish, trendy, fabulous finds for stylish girlfriend gifts. Birthday gifts, just because gifts, cheer-her-up gifts, congratulations gifts – whatever the occasion, we’ll look for those stylish gifts for the sometimes hard to shop for fashionista friend!

Fall Friendship Traditions – Food, Fashion, Festivals
October 7, 2010 – 11:06 am
Happy Fall Girlfriend!
Do you love Autumn? … cool nights replacing summer’s heat, open windows with great sleeping weather, toasted leaves hinting that things are changing, exchanging sandals for boots and sweaters for shorts?
I do. I can’t wait for the first opportunity to wear my standard dress in cold months – tights and boots. I welcome my favorite layers of sweaters and scarves. I crave comfort food like anything out of the crockpot. I love to walk through the woods and watch the neighborhood kids play in leaves. It’s a wonderful season to consciously feel Read More »

Cincinnati girlfriends you need to meet!
November 14, 2009 – 6:41 am
Hey – it’s our regular Saturday special Girlfriendology blog on Cincinnati. We’re thrilled to be part of the Cincinnati.com blogger network, so this ones’ for you Cincinnati!
I got to know a couple Cincinnati women this week that you need to meet!
KAREN SACKSTEDER - This energetic, friendly entrepreneur started a home interiors store over 20 years ago in New Trenton, In. (About 35 miles outside of Cincinnati.) I had the opportunity to visit her store this week as she held a women’s networking event that she started this summer called the “Who Do You Know? Party.” It’s basically a wild, wonderful group of women (and women who know women) who gather periodically to meet more women. Check out Karen’s fabulous store in New Trenton and welcome her to Kenwood for her new ‘Sacksteder’s Interior’ shop that just opened. (Also, Karen is a breast cancer survivor and has written a book to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Girls. Love her positive energy and am so glad I know her!)
STOP TRAFFICK FASHION – Emily Hill decided that something had to be done. So, Emily started Stop Traffick Fashion. Human Trafficking is the fastest growing form of international crime and the second largest source of income for organized crime, recently surpassing drugs. Each purchase from Stop Traffick Fashion directly helps the survivors and organizations rescuing and providing rehabilitation to survivors. Men, women, and children who have been rescued from their captors make nearly all of our accessories. Shopping at Stop Traffick Fashion provides income for these workers as they strive for a free and healthy life. In addition to the direct impact, a minimum of 2% of all sales revenue will be donated back to our partner organizations who rescue victims and provide rehabilitation and training.
Check out these two amazing Cincinnati women’s businesses/sites. They’re inspiring!! Thanks Karen and Emily for inspiring me, and so many others!
