Genetic Girlfriends? Sharing Genes & Jeans with Friends
February 24, 2011 – 1:18 pm
One of our beloved ‘Chick Flicks‘ brings four girlfriends together to share life and their dreams through a pair of magical jeans.
In ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,‘ four girlfriends from different backgrounds and headed off in four different directions, find a common bond and keep an on-going connection through a pair of pants.
What they didn’t know, is that they may have more in common than fashion sense and group dynamics. Per a recent study in PNAS, the journal of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (as shared in this article on MSNBC.com):
“You might have more in common with your BFF than a Read More »

Are your friends your family?
April 14, 2010 – 4:00 pm
Who do you call when you have good or not-so-good news? Friends or family?
Who do you spend time with on a regular basis, celebrate your birthday with, enjoy the anticipation of seeing again SOON? Who gives you the perfect birthday gift? Knows when to talk and when to listen? Lets you cry or makes you laugh?
For me, it’s my girlfriends. My sisters are great and are girlfriends, but most of my everyday moments and my highs and lows are spent with my BFFs. Read More »

Self-Love – It’s not as easy as it sounds
February 11, 2010 – 5:28 pm
I love my girlfriends. No doubt about it!
I love my husband and my pets (and obviously love any opportunity to show them off in cute photos!). I love my family, my friends, my country, my street and my great neighbors. I love Chicago and London, Paris and visiting our friends in MN, CO, PA and IN. I love Mexican food, fabulous shoes, American’s Funniest Home Videos, and the way my cat sits in front of the vent in the winter to stay warm. (I also love hearing what makes my girlfriends smile like this wonderful post from girlfriend Sugar Jones.) Thoughtful gifts from friends, Twitter and book club with girlfriends – more things to love and to make life more connected and fun. But what about me? How’s that relationship? Where is the love there? Read More »

How do you select the women in your life who you will let into your ‘friendship family’?

The Argument for Friendship
October 21, 2009 – 9:10 am

Why do we, as women, need female friendship?
I met a man recently and shared with him what Girlfriendology is about. How our goal, and the reason we started this, is to inspire women to share life with their female friends. It’s our own mission to make women healthier, happier, live longer, less stressed and feel more beautiful (all the proven benefits of female friendship). Girlfriendology is here to remind women to reach out to new friends, spend time with each other and appreciate the women in our lives. We want to inspire you to be a better friend. We strive to celebrate friendship and the wonderful way that women collaborate, support and encourage each other. Read More »

Day 2 of National Women’s Friendship Month – what are you doing today to celebrate?

Quiet moments …
May 23, 2009 – 10:02 am
… a cup of coffee on the porch, birds singing in the trees, a sleeping dog, the cat in the window keeping watch, a good book in a comfy chair, sitting in silence with a friend and being conscientious and appreciative of the moment.
Life’s about the simple things. Read More »
