The people who make you feel special | Friendship, Bloggers & the approaching Holidays

November 7, 2011 – 10:58 pm

FRIENDSHIP glenda and girlfriends at blogworldexpoWho are the people who believe in you? Make your smile? Go out of their way to show that they care? Who makes your days and birthdays special?

This past week was my birthday. It’s not necessarily a favorite day of mine, choosing to live in a delusion of about 20 years ago, but thankfully it’s still a day of friends showing that they care.

I was out of town at BlogWorldExpo (a GREAT social media conference that I was honored to be speaking at – and fortunately, I spoke on the first day, so I got it over with early!). I returned home today to find a stack of cards filled with birthday wishes from friends and family. I also had a L O N G list of Read More »

BlogWorldExpo – Debba Haupert, Speaking on ‘Building Online Community’

November 5, 2011 – 11:14 am

Friendship Anne Julie Debba at New Media CincyHi from Los Angeles and the BlogWorldExpo – “The First and Only Industry-wide Conference, Tradeshow and Media Event for all New Media.”

Debba Haupert here (founder of Girlfriendology – the greatest online community for women based on female friendship! IMHO!!) and hello friends from BlogWorldExpo – a great conference for bloggers, podcasters, social media folks and everyone interested in learning more about all things internet.

This is my fourth BlogWorld and I love this conference. I always learn from the great sessions and have conversations that change the way I think and do business online. Plus, the BIG bonus, I get to see some friends from years past and meet new friends in the blogosphere.

I was very honored to be selected to speak at this BlogWorld. I spoke on the first day, Thursday (yeah! So I could get it over with and enjoy the rest of the conference!). I spoke on ‘Successful Strategies for Building and Growing Online Communities’ and had a very nice crowd and some great questions/discussions. (THANKS to all who attended!!!!)

I shared a Checklist on Building Online Communities that I wanted to post on our new Blogger Resources page – but it won’t let me post a PDF, so here it is for anyone who’d like to see what we covered and recommend for building online communities:

BWELA Checklist – everyone can have it though :)

Unfortunately my talk was changed to a 45 minute slot so I was unable to share the Case Studies that I had to share. I’ll post the Case Studies here later today (sorry, have to get over to BlogWorld!).

Again, THANKS to everyone who attended and offered such great feedback! And BIG, HUGE THANKS to BLOGWORLD for allowing me the opportunity to speak at this great conference!

(If you’d like to still learn from this fabulous conference, you can purchase the recordings of the sessions – BlogWorldExpo 2011. Order by 11/5 and save $150 on your Blog World Virtual Ticket! Price goes up to $497 on 11/6!)

Plus!! Had fun giving girlfriends our ‘GFF Girlfriends Forever’ bumper stickers! Want one? See me today at #BWELA or follow the instructions on the link above!

April 28, 2011 – 1:51 pm

Friendship Girlfriendology 102 EbookThe Benefits of Work Friendships

We’re all about the benefits of friendships, especially (obviously!) female friendships. Having a strong support group of friends makes women healthier, happier, less stressed, feel more beautiful and even live longer. But did you know that friendships at work have actual cost-saving benefits for employers?

Job satisfaction and job retention are two very serious and spendy issues for companies. Happy employees make the workplace better – creating a more productive and satisfying environment, and establishing a culture of Read More »

Women Bloggers, The Blogosphere & Bloggy Conference (We <3 blogs!)

April 26, 2011 – 4:19 pm

Friendship Speaking at Bloggy ConferenceThe Blogosphere is a wonderful online community of Women.

I’m often amazed at the generousity of the girlfriendships forged between bloggers. Through online communities like Bloggy Moms, Savvy Blogging and Collective Bias, bloggers are finding each other, learning from each other and forming their own ‘tribes.’ It’s an amazing, generous blogosphere of fabulous, smart women.

One of those communities shared their personal passion for helping other women bloggers to share their lives and build their businesses through a strong blogger community. Thanks SHERRY MARTZ from City Chic on a Farm, for sharing this guest blog about the women’s blogger community online!

It’s ALL About Community, Respect, Support, & Belonging

Building Online Community | Build your Brand/Business with Social Media

April 7, 2011 – 8:47 am

Friendship Debba Haupert speakingWhat if we all told others what we knew? What would happen if we graciously shared our women’s wisdom?

That’s the basis of our thinking in launching and publishing the Girlfriendology Guides* – online content (eBooks, audio books, webinars) that tells what one woman knows to any other women who also could benefit – basically sharing ‘women’s wisdom.’ (And personally, I love that! That’s what girlfriends do – we share what we know in hope that it will make a friend’s life better, or even benefit a perfect stranger – because we’re all girlfriends really, we just may have not met yet!

Well, in the spirit of sharing what I know with other women, I’ve been doing a lot of speaking on Read More »

Girlfriendology & Girlfriends Featured in Anderson University Alumni News

March 25, 2011 – 11:59 am

Friendship Alumni news GirlfriendologyYeah! I’m using my business degree! (:

A LONG time ago I went to a small, liberal arts college, Anderson University, in the midwest and am proud to say, I graduated in four years (surprisingly!) with a double major in Marketing and Management. The best thing about my small, liberal arts college in the midwest, without a doubt, was the friendships that I still have to this day and cannot (and do not want to) imagine my life without these friends who have stuck with me for a long time and who I know will continue to do so!

Recently my college alumni news publication, Signatures Magazine, asked for a chance to interview me on being a blogger (and using my business degree – yeah!) and sent a photographer over to take a photo of me for the article. Fortunately some of my great girlfriends (who are also bloggers and work online) were generous enough to be there for the photo too. So BIG thanks to Julie Sweeney, Julie Bauke and Joanne Westwood for being my support team and fabulous models (: in the photo.
