In my experience, crafty and creative women ‘get‘ girlfriends. They love hanging out together, sharing their creative skills and latest projects, and making gifts for their favorite female friends. Also, in the industry, they share contacts, business ideas, techniques and a whole lot of support.

TIP TUESDAY #10 – Girlfriend Glitterizing Tip?

Can we get some girlfriend advice on craft trends and the glitter trend?
Glitter, glitter everywhere! I had the opportunity to go to the Atlanta Gift Mart the past two days. As we walked the aisles looking at what is and what will be in stores in the coming year, we noticed a definite trend for holiday decor in 2008 – glitter! Sparkly elves, glistening reindeer, sequined Santa – there was a definitely glow and glisten to the holiday home decor items available to gift stores to purchase to then sell to us.
So, this week’s TIP TUESDAY question is:
Do you like the glitter trend and, if so, how will you incorporate it to your home and holiday decor in the coming year?
For me, I was fortunate to have some DecoArt Glitter paint (Craft Twinkles Writers) this year when I wanted to touch up a wooden word (Joy) that my sister gave me. I spray painted the red wood with white (to better match my holiday decorations) then painted it with several coats of this glitter paint. It sparkled wonderfully and made me happy!
Are you a glitter girl? Do you limit it to holiday decor or use it throughout the year? If so, speak up! (If not, let’s hear from you too.) Let us know ways you embellish items to sparkle like your great personality! (-;

Do you have a girlfriend crafting group? Or a book club? Entrepreneur group? Maybe you should start one. Hmmm, but how does one go about starting something like that?
Listen to our new podcast with the Crafty Chica herself, KATHY CANO-MURILLO and she’ll tell you! In fact, she’s so enthusiastic and helpful that your creative brain will start rolling and all of a sudden, you’re on your way to a great girlfriend group.
Kathy was busy designing her new line of craft products (can’t wait to see those!) but she still took time out to talk with Girlfriendology about her fun, creative girlfriend group, “The Phoenix Fridas,” on our weekly podcast. You have to listen! I was smiling during the whole conversation! Her creativity is contagious. Her enthusiasm for her girlfriends is gregarious. Her sweet, kind, encouraging spirit is just what a girlfriend longs to hear. She rocks!
Just to share a bit about Kathy, she recently wrote her first novel and has several creative/crafty books which inspire people all over the globe. She has designed home goods for Lowe’s and has fun, funky jewelry on Target.com. And, she has a Crafty Chica Cruise coming up in March 08. Wow!
