Girlfriendology Week: What can you do this week to be a better friend?
October 11, 2010 – 11:41 pm
It’s community. It’s family. It’s friendship.
Casual conversation with a girlfriend, working out together, tweeting back and forth – it’s more than just staying in touch, it’s staying sane and forming a bond that holds us up when we feel like we’re sinking. It’s more than just Facebooking each other, it’s knowing the ‘back story,’ why we do what we do, and what we see through our eyes that no one else sees.
Friendship is a relationship that weathers storms, gets stronger when we’re weaker, knows us better than we know ourselves and accepts us as we are. Not even romantic relationships can always do that.

Girlfriend advice: Ode to Denial, After a Breast Cancer Diagnosis
October 8, 2010 – 1:23 pm
Breast Cancer Awareness, Advocacy and Girlfriend Advice
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Unfortunately I think we’re already aware of it because too many of our moms, sisters and girlfriends have or are dealing with it. Too many women have had to go through a diagnosis and wonder what the future holds.
Today’s BlogTalkRadio guest, GENAE GIRARD had to deal with that diagnosis and it wasn’t easy. So, she shared her girlfriend advice in a Read More »

This week on Girlfriendology: I like it on the Bookcase (say what?!)
October 4, 2010 – 9:35 pm
Fall has arrived in the Midwest.
The leaves haven’t quite changed yet but things inside have. Outdoor dining has been replaced by a warm kitchen filled with aromatic comfort foods like chili and pot roast. Boots are replacing sandals, and shorts and t-shirts have to make room for sweaters and scarves.
I love Autumn. Like being back in my favorite tights and boots, it just feels warm and comforting to be making plans with friends. It’s a great time of year to visit a Fall Festival with your favorite female friends. Fall shopping is more fun with a friend. And it’s the perfect time of year to Read More »

Be a Better Friend – Be there for Each Other
June 22, 2010 – 3:51 pm
“Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That’s why it’s a comfort to go hand in hand.”
Emily Kimbrough
It doesn’t take much to be a better friend – sometimes it’s just being there for each other.
I never told my girlfriend how much she may have changed my life one night. It was my Junior year of college and I was upset over a break-up with some guy. I remember the snowy night and walking between buildings and dorms crying. I remember feeling alone and hopeless. And, I remember having thoughts of suicide.
I ended up running into my girlfriend Dana and talking with her in her room for hours. We didn’t need to talk about the guy or anything heavy. It was just a fun, comfortable, accepting Read More »

Life is about …
October 26, 2009 – 6:14 am
Girlfriend – what is life about?
It’s not shoes (no matter how much we love them!, or jobs/titles (even when that’s a big part of our life/time), or the kind of car we drive (although I do love my dog-friendly car!). It’s about the little things. Life is about the special moments. And life is about … Read More »

Here’s today’s DAILY INSPIRATION. If you’d like to receive these, click the little orange tab to the left and sign up. We’d love to remind you how beautiful you (and your girlfriends) are! Read More »

Girlfriends & Making Healthy Choices
October 9, 2009 – 11:04 am
Girlfriend – What did you have for breakfast this morning?
You did have breakfast, didn’t you?! How many times did you workout or walk this week? Did you spend time with your girlfriends? How are you sleeping?
As friends we care. We want our friends to be around forever and live healthy, full lives and that starts with making healthy choices. Our friends’ health is important to us, as ours is to them. That’s what we do – we look out for and care about each other. Read More »

Girlfriend wishes – granted?
October 8, 2009 – 12:30 pm
Don’t you wish you could grant your girlfriends’ wishes?
I do! I’d give Jill a new job where they’d love and appreciate her the way her friends do. I’d make Becky’s husband healthy and give them many more years of happiness and love. I’d send some special guys into my single (and looking) girlfriends’ lives. I’d just love to see their dreams come true.
