3rd Day of Friendship – Girlfriend Traditions | Book Club, Ornaments & Lots of Laughter

December 14, 2011 – 7:18 pm

friendship girlfriend book club holidaysWhat Girlfriend Traditions do you have? Any Book Club, Mom’s Group or Sorority Get-togethers? (Those count as Girlfriend Traditions!)

We’re on day three of the 12 days of friendship for our holiday celebration of the gift of female friendship. Today we’re celebrating the gift of girlfriend traditions …

Tonight is our neighborhood Book Club. We’re a very friendly (we like to think!), non-stressful group of women who really like to hang out together, eat, drink and laugh. Oh, and sometimes we read a book! But not tonight!

Tonight is special. It’s our annual ‘Ornament Exchange’ party. We’ll all gather at Penny’s home, bring our appetizers, desserts and beverages (wine generally!) and an ornament to offer to the girls.

It’s a fabulous tradition of Read More »

Wildflower Hill, By Kimberly Freeman | Book Review & Girlfriend Advice

September 14, 2011 – 5:38 am

Wildflower Hill novel from AustraliaHey girlfriend! Looking for a new novel for your book club or a good read for the fall?

Hot off the presses, Wildflower Hill by Kimberley Freeman is here!

(Full disclosure: They sent me a free copy of the book, but I had to do all the reading myself.)

Wildflower Hill is the dual story of two women (a grandmother and granddaughter) who each have to find a way to start over in their lives.

The novel spans three generations starting with Beattie, pregnant, unmarried, and pressured by society in the 1930s to give up her baby for adoption. Beattie and her married beau run off to Tasmania where Beattie begins one of several “do-overs” in her life.

Fast forward to present day. Lucy is a ballerina, living and working in London until a career-ending Read More »

The #RoyalWedding, a Girlfriend Cruise & Things Girls Talk About :)

April 25, 2011 – 10:50 pm

Friendship Royal Wedding 2011Are you watching the Royal Wedding girlfriend?

There seem to be two schools of thought among us girlfriends – (1) loving the Royal Wedding and all the fan fair over it or (2) just as soon pretend it’s another country (heehee) and not care a bit.

For me, I kinda enjoy it. It’s something pleasant in the news. No tsunami or tornado, no war or victims, no reference to gas prices or balancing the budget. Just love. Fairy tale love and a fairy tale wedding.

Do you remember the previous royal wedding? I just remember that my friend Read More »

Books for Women | Book Club Books, Books Women Love

April 25, 2011 – 3:27 pm

Friendship Books for women, Best books for Book ClubsWhat is it about books & women?

We as a gender tend to love to read and then talk about what we’ve read. We form Book Clubs and go even if we haven’t read the book! We also love to write books and form writing groups with other women who share our passion for books and writing. And, interestingly, romance fiction (a typically female only genre) is the largest segment of book sales – we kinda are a big deal in the book world! (:

So, we asked you for some of your favorite book club books. You know … books for women, recommended by (you guessed it) Read More »

Girlfriendology NEW News – what’s new with you Girlfriend?

August 13, 2010 – 1:57 pm

Friendship Flower Gerbera DaisyWhat’s new girlfriend?

When was the last time you took a new road? Ate foods you’ve never tasted before or made a new friend?

Life is an adventure. It’s a wild ride through our 20s, 30s and beyond. From the changing landscape of relationships to possibly marriage and motherhood; physical, financial and emotional swings; to the lessons learned along the way, it’s generally not for the weak or whimpy, and definitely not for those traveling through life alone.

Thankfully we have our girlfriends. Old friends who have Read More »

Be a better friend – in the Highs and Lows

July 30, 2010 – 10:15 am

Friendship Girlfriend Molly with Girlfriendology flowerEver have one of those weeks? HIGH highs and LOW lows – and everything in between?

Last week my DH (aka: ‘dear husband’) was out of town. My plan was to diet, exercise and do lots of work. Reality: I did pretty well on my eating healthy (he wasn’t around to spoil me with carbs!) and got the treadmill in a few times as well as a bunch of dog walks. I did work lots but maybe not quite as much as I anticipated.

Why not? My girlfriends. I had a happy hour with Tina, Becky and Lynn. (High high) Wine on the porch with Anne. Another happy hour with the Cincinnati.com LOL Bloggers (thanks Chris & co.!). I had meeting with Bridgett and went to a movie with Penny. All HIGH highs. It was a wonderful way to enjoy the week by reconnecting with so many of my favorite females.

The big HIGH and LOW came on Saturday. I attended a Read More »
