FRIENDSHIP glenda and girlfriends at blogworldexpoBuilding Online Community – like the wonderful Women of Girlfriendology! Honored to be selected to speak at BlogWorldExpo New York this June!

Six years ago I (Debba Haupert – on the left in photo from my first BlogWorldExpo) started Girlfriendology because two of my friends were dealing with cancer and I felt the need to inspire women to appreciate and celebrate our friends. I had no idea of the journey that would take me on!

The lessons from building Girlfriendology and our online community of women have been amazing! The people who make you feel special | Friendship, Bloggers & the approaching Holidays

FRIENDSHIP glenda and girlfriends at blogworldexpoWho are the people who believe in you? Make your smile? Go out of their way to show that they care? Who makes your days and birthdays special?

This past week was my birthday. It’s not necessarily a favorite day of mine, choosing to live in a delusion of about 20 years ago, but thankfully it’s still a day of friends showing that they care.

BlogWorldExpo – Debba Haupert, Speaking on ‘Building Online Community’

Debba Haupert here (founder of Girlfriendology – the greatest online community for women based on female friendship! IMHO!!) and hello friends from BlogWorldExpo – a great conference for bloggers, podcasters, social media folks and everyone interested in learning more about all things internet.

This is my fourth BlogWorld and I love this conference. I always learn from the great sessions and have conversations that change the way I think and do business online. Plus, the BIG bonus, I get to see some friends from years past and meet new friends in the blogosphere.

I was very honored to be selected to speak at this BlogWorld. I spoke on the first day, Thursday (yeah! So I could get it over with and enjoy the rest of the conference!). I spoke on ‘Successful Strategies for Building and Growing Online Communities’ and had a very nice crowd and some great questions/discussions. (THANKS to all who attended!!!!)

I shared a Checklist on Building Online Communities that I wanted to post on our new Blogger Resources page – but it won’t let me post a PDF, so here it is for anyone who’d like to see what we covered and recommend for building online communities:

Unfortunately my talk was changed to a 45 minute slot so I was unable to share the Case Studies that I had to share. I’ll post the Case Studies here later today (sorry, have to get over to BlogWorld!).

Girlfriendology Update: Hugs & ‘Random’ Girlfriend Advice

Friendship Seagate BlogworldI just returned from BlogWorldExpo* – a big social media conference in Las Vegas. (I’d tell you more about it but they make you agree to ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!’) The one thing I can tell you is that having friends is a wonderful thing.

I’ve attended enough conferences in this online community to have developed friendships – some great friendships. I’ve met AMAZING women like Katja Presnal, aka: Skimbaco, who is inspiring with her lifestyle blog and brand in the U.S. and is huge in her homeland of Finland.
