It’s almost National Girlfriend’s Day (this Friday, August 1st) and I’m busy writing a list of ten ideas for celebrating it with your girlfriends. It’s a great exercise in thinking about girls and women from my life who have impacted me by trusting me with their friendship. Read More

Meet new friends – start a girlfriend group!
July 27, 2008 – 8:40 am
There is a power and energy that comes when women come together. Add to that scenario women with a common goal, interest, skill or passion and you basically can’t stop them! I love that about girlfriend groups!
This spring I had an idea to start a group of local women bloggers. I just thought it would be a great way to meet some other women in the community, to learn together and to just see what would happen. Lucky for me, through a mutual Twitter connection, I was introduced to Shannan – a passionate and experienced blogger and social media guru. (THANKS to Shannan who has really ‘run with the ball’ on this group! I’m so fortunate to have found her or this group might never have happened!) We set the date and location then started spreading the word about this semi-techie, all-fun ‘girlfriend group.’
The first meeting of the Cincinnati Women Bloggers brought together nine women with over a dozen blogs. Our second meeting, which took place yesterday, even more of us met and shared about our blogs, seminars we’ve attended recently (specifically BlogHer and PodCampOhio) and what our goals are for this online communication. Shannan set up a blog about us – CincinnatiWomenBloggers, so now we can share information on future meetings, new postings on our blogs and comments.
As girlfriends do, we introduce each other to our friends. So, meet the Cincinnati Women Bloggers:
- Amybeth – Research Goddess
- Shannan – Mommy Bits and Mommy Bits Reviews
- Cara – CaraReeves.com and Working Moms Against Guilt
- Olivia – Just Five Minutes a Day
- Susan – Working Moms Against Guilt and Mr and Mrs Get Fit
- Jane – Work & Joy
- Andrea – Udandi
- Julie – Wine Me Dine Me Cincinnati and Ditto Chic
- Laura – World’s Best Burger
- Loree – Hermits Gone Wild and World’s Best Burger
- Maureen – Taking the House by Storm
- Barb – Barb Trimble blog
A few of our girlfriends couldn’t join us yesterday but also have great blogs:
- Valerie – Cincinnati Locavore
- Amy – Amy in Ohio
- Michelle – Wine Girl
- Krista – KriBaby
Next meet-up: August 23rd, Bean Haus, Main St. Covington 10:00 am. Visit Cincinnati Women Bloggers blog for updates and comments.
Want to meet some women who share your hobby, political passion, life stage (i.e., mommys) or just common interest? Start a girlfriend group! You never know where you’ll meet a new BFF or someone who will teach you something that you need to learn and who will change your life! Go for it, girlfriend!
Hello from Jillville! What a great place!!
June 10, 2007 – 1:40 pm
I wish I could add an audio file to this blog – just for Jill.
She has one volume for her laugh – loud. It is the most honest, pull you in and crack you up kind-of laughter. Contagious also describes her energy and passion for her friends. I am so fortunate to be one of them. She is a joy to know and a blessing that impacts who I am and whom I will become.
Jill is an amazingly-talented jewelry designer. (She’s a ’superstar’ – really! But she hates when I call her that – sorry honey!) Check out her jewelry designs at www.jillmackay.com. So beautiful, creative and classic! Read More
