Lesson from a Guy-Friend – about Girlfriends and Friendship
Saturday I ran into my friend Tom at a local social media event. He’s smart, funny and a good guy, who always has wonderful stories about being a dad, his daughter who makes great meatball sandwiches and the funny times at his house. (:
Something in our conversation prompted him to share the following story about his great aunt and her friendships. It made me cry. (Yes, I’m a whimp!) But in a good way so, I thought you might enjoy it too. (Plus, don’t you just love this photo of her at 96 having fun on a jet ski – in long pants! So cute!) THANKS TOM!

Beautiful You – a girlfriend’s guide to self-acceptance

When you look in the mirror, do you see your beauty? Or do you focus on the things you wish were different with your body?
As girlfriends we see each others beauty and all the amazing qualities our friends possess. But, turn the mirror our way, we often struggle with self-love and self-acceptance. Add to that the body image issues that we face due to media focus on perfect bodies and Photoshop’d faces.
Too bad we don’t see ourselves through the eyes of our friends, through eyes of love and acceptance.

Yes, you are. Girlfriends are beautiful.
I love how as girlfriends we don’t see the wrinkles and gray hairs, but the beauty inside. I love how we see the memories in a friend’s eyes and the laughter in girlfriends’ smiles. When others may be judgemental, our friends are there for us make-up or not!

Like a fabulous salon, a make-up tip or easy recipe? A savvy shopper sale update or review of a new store for whatever ’stuff’ you love?! I do! Girlfriends make life better in so many ways so here are a few local girlfriend tips and reviews we can offer – and we welcome your great girlfriend advice!
- Mi Salon and Spa – Recently I had to get a new ‘do for BlogHer (conference for women, you can’t go with shabby hair!). I had met Melissa from Mi Salon and Spa at a social media event and she invited me to this Florence salon, spa and school. (I had no idea there was a cool place like this in Cincinnati!) First, I was totally impressed with the place – it’s beautiful and buzzing with beauty professionals and clients. The top floor houses the salon and spa – complete with private rooms for couples massages or pedicures, a sample bar to try out new products, a hair coloring area and lots more – including a private beauty room that men or women can receive hair and beauty care in private. (This room is sometimes used by women or men who may have disabilities or are going through chemo, etc. and just want a little privacy.) Read More »
