Part of the fun of girlfriend’s birthdays is the celebration we get to have with them – of their birthday and of our friendship.

Recently it was my BFF from college’s birthday. We celebrated with a party at a local restaurant where so many of her friends joined us to make sure Barb’s birthday was a happy birthday!

I thought I’d capture the wonderful event and all the friends who love her so much in a girlfriend gift – the gift of a personalized photo album filled with friends and memories from the birthday party.

Having been in the craft industry (yep, even wrote a book!), I love an excuse to craft and make a girlfriend gift. So, I headed for the nearby Michael’s for inspiration and supplies. I chose an orange theme because of the Girlfriendology ‘friendship flower’ being an orange gerbera. The ‘lipstick’ pink was selected based on the scrapbook papers in Michael’s. (They had a huge assortment of scrapbook paper and much of it was on sale – score!)

With picture album and scrapbook papers selected, I came home to my mini-Michael’s store (again, having worked in the Craft industry, I have a few crafting products in my basement!). In Publisher, I created boxes with girlfriend quotes in them – in a fun font and in the colors of the scrapbook papers. (Girlfriendology features a new girlfriend quote every day then publishes them all in our Quotes area so you can find a great girlfriend quote when you need it.) I cut the scrapbook papers to fit in the photo pages and glued the photos and sayings on them.

I love how the colors are bright and happy – like a girlfriend birthday should be! I love looking through the photos and remembering that fun evening honoring my best friend of so many years. And I’ll really love when I can give her the girlfriend gift I created! (No rush, but waiting on her husband to get me more photos from the birthday party!)
