Celebrating Spring, Celebrating Friendship
Spring has ‘Sprung’ – at least in this girlfriend’s world!
It’s still Winter in my previous home state of Minnesota. I talked with my girlfriend Patty this week and they still have a blanket of the ‘white stuff’ which may be around for weeks.
I remember those Minnesota winters. For a girl from the South and Mid-west, the bitter temperatures were unbearable. (Hence the move to Ohio!) The seemingly endless season of snow and bitter cold challenged my sanity. And I remember wondering how any plantlife could survive the freeze that reached inches, if not feet, down deep into the ground.
But every Spring, it never failed, bulbs would come back to life. Hostas would spiral their way out of the formerly frozen ground and soon thrive again. The earth would come back to life – even in that unforgiving latitude.
I hate to rub it in to my Northern girlfriends, but it feels like Spring here in the Mid-west. Buds are popping from formerly-barren trees. Crocus and daffodils are sending up their green ‘fingers’ to signal the arrive of spring and test the warmth of Spring sunshine.
You may have some friendships that have gone dormant. Perhaps the winter was your ‘inside time’ and you hibernated with your family, the Olympics, Biggest Loser or the Bachelor, or just some great books. (Like those we read for Book Club!)
Well, girlfriend, I’m here to tell you that Spring has spring – especially when it comes to friendships. Don’t miss a season to celebrate with your friends. Find reasons to get together, get outside (together!) and to enjoy this season of rebirth and rejuvenation. Have a wonderful Spring Debba – with your girlfriends. Because life really is better together with your girlfriends!

“On the road again …”
It’s a funny world in the blogosphere. We are a passionate pose of Social Media nerds and a connected colony of Twitteratti. Yep, I do recognize that we’re a goofy bunch but I’ve met some amazing FRIENDS through social media and am excited to see many of them in Austin TX for South-by-Southwest (SxSW) this/next week.
I’ll get to see my girlfriends Sandy, Liz, Michelle, Erika and more. And I’ll be rooming with a new friend whom I met at a previous event, Hope. (Lovely name, isn’t it?!) I will hang out with my friends from Collective Bias (a social media agency who graciously provided a scholarship for my ticket). And I hope to meet many more friends.
If you’re going to be there, look for me – I’ll be the girl with the orange flower on my lapel (and probably wandering around lost – it’s a BIG conference!).
