The teacher who saw something special in you. The conversation that changed the direction of your life. The sincere compliment that came on a day when you didn’t feel beautiful or loved. The smile that told you everything would be okay. The hug that held you when you needed comfort.

We have a lot to be thankful for - for friends and family, for health and happiness, for love and laughter. And for the amazing people who care about us, who share in our lives and who honestly want only the best for us.

So why don’t we express it? Why don’t we say those two little words that have a HUGE impact? As Gertrude said – “Silent gratitude isn’t very much use to anyone.”

Let’s choose to not be silent. Let’s make a change. Heck, let’s go overboard. Let’s send THANK YOU notes and express our appreciation to friends and strangers. Pretend it’s Thanksgiving and make sharing gratitude a celebration. Tell your friends – or start with just one friend – how much her friendship means to you. Give a really good hug. Do something to surprise her like plan a trip together or forgive her and move on with your friendship. Or just say ‘Thank You’ to anyone who makes you smile.

Be a friend. Be a girlfriend. Because life really is better together with your girlfriends!
