My girlfriend Judi’s daughter wears non-matching socks everyday. Penny loves to pair up two earrings that are different but work well together. Cindy only wears purple – even down to her mascara!

I love the creativity and individuality of women. We have a special gift for being unique, clever and memorable. We can carry off a signature look like we were born into it. (Wondering if Cindy’s parents brought her home wrapped in a purple blanket?)

We know that we’re up against the media’s perception of a ‘perfect’ size 2 model. We see the airbrushed photos that show flawless females with unlimited shopping budgets and presumably a staff to keep them perfectly cared for. Personally, we juggle schedules and struggle with real life issues. Life is quite a bit different than seen in the pages of fashion and lifestyle magazines.

The clash of being unique in a world that tries to teach us to all dress alike can be a challenge – but something that we can accomplish. And, the acceptance, love and support of a friend can make sure we stay true to our true self.

So be unique. Establish your own signature style. Zig when the rest of the world is zagging. Find your own style and wear it as only you can. And, if anyone questions you, just say ‘it’s just part of my charm.’ (That one’s for you Judi!)

You’re YOU and you’re the best (and only) YOU you can be. And, you’re loved just the way you are – by your girlfriends. Celebrate your individual style and celebrate the women who think you’re perfect in purple or whatever style you claim. Be YOU and be a friend – because life really is better together with your girlfriends!
