Dear Girlfriend,

As I friend, I owe you the benefit of the doubt. Right? Actually, there’s no doubt – I do. You deserve a ‘hand of friendship’ and no cold shoulder.

Well, why is it that women aren’t always that supportive and trusting? Why do we doubt each others’ intentions and actions? Why can’t we all just get along??

We owe it to each other, as sisters, as friends, as mothers of daughters, to change that. To take the higher road. To give the benefit of the doubt. To offer a hand up instead of putting each other down.

Let’s gently, but consistently, help each other to find that higher road. Let’s support each other, live as examples of sisterhood and pick up ‘pom poms’ as cheerleaders for each other. Let’s change that pattern of drama and cattiness. Let’s give each other the benefit of the doubt.

Let’s be ‘girlfriends’ to each other. And let’s be the type of friend we’d love to have.

And let’s offer the hand of friendship – because life really is better together with your girlfriends! I’m thinking that’s pretty sage advice, right?
