Dear Girlfriend,

Recently on “The Office,” Andy did a favor for Dwight. (If you know the show, they’re both pretty goofy male coworkers.) Throughout the episode, they each took extreme measures to pay back the other. Over and over and over.

Sometimes we’re like this. We feel uncomfortable if someone goes out of their way for us. We feel like we can’t be in debt to them. Other times, perhaps we’re busy or distracted, but we do just the opposite and overlook the generousity of others.

What would happen if we became super conscious of good deeds and ‘acts of kindness?’ What if we went out of our way to be thoughtful, generous and (the word of the month!) grateful?

Let’s give it a go. Today, let’s make an effort to get even with those who have helped us. Let’s be the initiator of kindness (and perhaps without them even knowing who it is) and practice ‘girlfriend gratitude.’

Let’s be the kind of friend we’d love to have. Because … life really is better, together with your girlfriends!
