Cincy Cheap Chic – Frugal finds to share with Friends
What your favorite cheap place to shop?
Where do you go when you want something just fun, fashionable and frugal?
Recently I had a conference in Vegas and needed some clothes to wear. (We won’t get into my size and finances, but let’s just agree that sometimes we need something new to wear and don’t really have that option so we have to find alternatives.) Fortunately my sweet friend Jill wears about my size and responded with a big armful of clothes. (First frugal tip – have friends in your size range!) From a navy shorts suit to funky evening wear, Jill dressed me and my wonderful, stylish friend Tina accessorized me with scarves and jewelry.
I needed a few accessories of my own like some cool leggings to wear under the shorts suit (with my boots). I’ve seen them online as a current fashion trend. (I believe? I’m not a fashion guru by any means!) But where would you go? (Or where would your girlfriends tell you to go?!) I checked out Target, Meijer, Steinmart & TJ Maxx – no cool leggings or tights. None. What’s up with that? (I’m already wearing tights under my jeans all the time – I’m cold!)
Where did I find some really cool leggings/tights and fun, different stuff? Conway! Conway is a ‘cheap’ retailer that I’ve shopped at in Manhattan and always find something different there. Even if it is just a jacket or t-shirt, it’s not what you’ll see in all the other stores. The clothes may not be classics or built to last for years, but I’m okay with that. I just love a good deal and if I wear it for a season or two, I’ve got my money out it.

Other ‘cheap’ shopping options in Cincinnati (and other cities): Forever21 (I know, I’m not anywhere near 21 but their clothes are affordable and fun, and they have cool accessories which make great girlfriend gifts!). I can’t wait until H&M gets here – cool, affordable clothes (not ‘cheap’ or cheaply-made but fab fashions!). I love Snooty Fox and resale shops too.
