Girlfriend – What did you have for breakfast this morning?
You did have breakfast, didn’t you?! How many times did you workout or walk this week? Did you spend time with your girlfriends? How are you sleeping?
As friends we care. We want our friends to be around forever and live healthy, full lives and that starts with making healthy choices. Our friends’ health is important to us, as ours is to them. That’s what we do – we look out for and care about each other.
This week’s newsletter (below, which you can get too by clicking the lovely orange tab to the left) focuses on why and how we should make healthy choices and encourage our friends to do the same.
In addition to signing up for the newsletter (go join!), we also want to get to know you and hear how you and your girlfriends are making healthy choices, supporting and inspiring each other, and ‘doing life’ together as fabulous friends. Join the Girlfriendology community to share how you’re making healthy choices, your girlfriend advice for exercise (or training for a duathalon!), links to coupons and special offers, etc.
Share. Care. Inspire. (That’s what girlfriend do!) And make healthy choices while you’re at it! We want you to be healthy and happy, and around to be our friend for a long time!

Guide to the Online Community for Women based on Female Friendship |

Dear Girlfriend,
How’s your life? Are you busy running from meeting to appointment, soccer games to drive-up windows, errands to home? (Or, is it just me?!) Life can be out of control and that’s when we need to actually take care of ourselves. (Our girlfriends would want us to – right?!)
Actually taking care of ME – not just my family, business and that crazy schedule, isn’t easy. But, if I don’t take care of myself, who is going to? Right?
I owe it to myself, and my friends, to make the right choices – like going to yoga instead of working, or walking the dog instead of more meetings, or eating healthy instead of fast food. It makes it tough to be a friend, mom, sister or girlfriend if I’m exhausted, in poor health or I haven’t allotted time in my schedule for good health.
Give yourself permission to make healthy choices. Schedule some time for YOU on your calendar – and keep it! Female friendship makes women healthier, happier and less stressed – so save time for your girlfriends too! Eat healthy, sleep well and get your body moving. We (your girlfriends!) want you to be around and healthy for a long time!
Because life really is better, together with your girlfriends!
P.S. We’re off to BlogWorldExpo this week and so excited to meet a bunch of other Bloggers as well as some great brands – like Healthy Choice! Check out their $2 coupon (yum!) and add your own coupon links to the Girlfriendology Community. Let’s all get healthy together!

Girlfriendology BlogTalkRadio guests: TAMI BOEHMER
It’s a fun, friend-filled Friday on BlogTalkRadio/ Girlfriendology TODAY at 11am PST/2:00pm EST!
In February 2008, TAMI BOEHMER heard the news she always feared: she had a recurrence of the breast cancer and it spread to other parts of her body. The prognosis was grim, but the wife and mother of a young daughter wasn’t ready to give up. Tami began interviewing outstanding survivors around the country for her book, From Incurable to Incredible: Cancer Survivors Who Beat the Odds. This is going to be inspiring!
TODAY at 11am PST/2pm EST on BlogTalkRadio.com/girlfriendology! Next week we’re moving this ‘fun, friend-filled Friday’ to Monday, October 19th. Join us as we talk with Lindsay Avner from BE BRIGHT PINK. More girlfriends, more inspiration, less Breast Cancer. That’s what we’re hoping for!

Girlfriendology Community Update
WOW! We’re overwhelmed! Actually giddy! We’ve had (seriously!) hundreds of women sign up for the Girlfriendology community in the first two weeks! THANKS! (Trying to avoid Sally Fields quote here.) We’re thrilled to be part of your life and to inspire and be inspired by you.
Here’s what you can find and add to this online community for women. We need your input and ‘girlfriend advice’ on things like:
Frugal living – Share how you save money and add links to coupons so we can all save!
- Books and Book Clubs – Who and what are you reading? What books do you recommend to a girlfriend?
- Relationships and Challenges – Advice for caring for elderly parents? How to meet friends in a new town?
- Girlfriend Questions - You know the things you want to ask but feel silly bringing up – like “Am I normal if I only mop my kitchen floor monthly?” or “What really are ‘mom jeans’?” Ask them! You’re in the company of supportive, sharing women!
Plus, you can form groups (like Book Lovers, Gals from Galena, whatever!), send messages, get discounts for being a member (and membership is FREE!), search for friends and more.
This is OUR COMMUNITY. So share with us what you want from this group of great gals. We’re here to share, care, learn, grow, inspire and support – like a great big girlfriend group! And we want to hear from you what will make this the best place for sharing our lives together online and offline.
And join us on Facebook too! Because everyone’s gotta Facebook, right?

A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.
William Arthur Ward

It’s raining. It’s rained all week. And, to be honest, it’s rained all month – but that rain has come in the form of sad news, scary updates and uncertainty for the future among quite a few of the people in my life whom I deeply love. It’s soaked into my worries, clouded anticipations and flooded my eyes.
I have been accused, and rightly so, of having a sunny disposition when it comes to girlfriends and friendship. I generally avoid the tough, sad, heart-wrenching side of friendship (or lack thereof) mainly because Girlfriendology is here to inspire - not cause you to retreat from friends who may eventually let you down or not meet your expectations.
Even in the midst of life’s storms, we need faith and hope. In addition to our personal beliefs, we need friends to support us when we can’t stand on our own. We need others to help us see past the rain for the rainbow, and continue to hope even when it’s not necessarily our natural disposition.
Sometimes that hope comes through little things like bringing over a bottle of wine just to catch up and cry. Sometimes faith is felt in a group hug with mascara running down our faces or by assistance in exploring solutions for getting through the storm. I’ve experienced all these scenarios this week and I know: I couldn’t make it without my friends.
A rainy day is no match for a friendly disposition as well.
So, is it raining in your world? Or are the clouds over a friend’s home? Be there for each other in the sunny or stormy seasons. Then share your stories and insights in the Girlfriendology community and inspire others. Let’s make the world a better place – one friendship at a time!
THANKS Girlfriend! Have a fun, friend-filled, SUNNY week!!
