Girlfriendology 101
Guide to the Online Community for Women based on Female Friendship |

Dear Girlfriend,
Girlfriends are fun! Multiply that fun by 1300+ women who are passionate about what they do, and we’re also loud, wild, hilarious, caring, sharing, FUN and – did we mention – loud?!
BlogHer, a conference for women bloggers, took place last weekend in Chicago. (Did you know there are over 42 million women in the blogosphere every week?!) It was an amazing opportunity to meet, connect, learn, share and laugh IRL (in real life!). It was a time to learn, laugh, meet new friends and see old ones. It was a wild, wonderful weekend with some wild and wonderful women!
Online or offline, connections with women make us stronger. Through social media and social events like BlogHer, or book clubs and GNO’s with our favorite gal pals, we build those networks of women who inspire us, who care and share, and who make our lives better in a whole bunch of ways – from health to happiness, lower stress to higher self esteem.
We can’t have BlogHer all the time (we couldn’t survive many more days and nights like that!), but we can, and NEED to, connect with other women both online and off-line/IRL.
Take time for your friends this weekend. Make conversation with a new friend. Be the kind of friend you’d love to have. Life is better together – with your girlfriends!

Lost and Found

Meeting new women (aka: potential girlfriends) can be fun, stressful, interesting, or, as we mentioned above, LOUD. Being open to new friends sometimes takes a little time and effort on our part, but think of all the things we have to learn from each other?!
This week, make an effort to find a new friend. Nothing fake or forced, just be open to talking with a neighbor or calling up someone new and get to know her. Grow those friendships that are just acquaintances. Listen for the lessons we have to share and celebrate how much we can care for each other.
And, D.J., in addition to FINDING new friends, think about how LOST you’d be without your friends. Female friendship is a worthwhile effort that makes us healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and feel more beautiful.
Don’t feel lost or lonely. Find a new girlfriend, appreciate the friends you have and be open to all the beauty that friendship brings into your life!
THANKS Girlfriend! Have a fun, friend-filled week!!
