Do you and your girlfriends want to get fit and lose weight – but just can’t seem to do it on your own?

Girlfriend, and fellow blogger, Heather (aka: the Food Hussy blogger!) is going through “Boot Camp” with some girlfriends and offered to share their progress.

Personally, I love this account. It’s honest, fun and shows how girlfriends can make it through just about anything – TOGETHER. You go girlfriends!

BOOT CAMP GIRLFRIEND CHALLENGE – WEEK 1

BOOT CAMP. It’s a big phrase – sounds scary – something I honestly never thought I would go through. But here I am in my second six-week session! It’s not the military and I don’t have to wear camo (thank God) but it is a lot of hard work! This boot camp could also be called Blogger Bootcamp as we have three local women bloggers participating!

Working through the Boot Camp are:

Heather (that’s me!) – The Food Hussy – I’m 35 and lost 50 pounds 2 years ago and am ready to lose the other 50.

Kate – Kate’s Random Musings – She’s a bit younger than me and is ready to get back into the form she was a couple of years ago.

Carole – Around & About – She’s a titch older than me and is ready to say goodbye to that baby weight!

So what is this boot camp thing? Well – let’s see – it’s running, push ups, running, crunches, running, squats, running, lunges, running, mountain climbers and oh yes – RUNNING! The amazing thing to me is that we don’t use one piece of “equipment” – the only thing besides our bodies is a resistance band!

All in all – boot camp is nothing I COULDN’T do on my own – BUT – the fact is that I never WOULD do it on my own! The thing I love is that I can shut my brain off – I walk in the door and turn myself over to Stephanie. I’m hers for one hour, three days a week. And she knows it and she works me!

So what are the other girls saying?

Kate – she hates it. Her internal voice just keeps saying “I hate this I hate this I hate this.” Wow – ringing endorsement? BUT (and that’s a big BUT – no pun intended) she feels better when she’s done!

Kate said that her muscles are twitching and waking up! She also relayed a story to me of waiting for the “weight loss fairy” to knock on her door and wave her magic wand. Not sure it’s there now, but we might have to add that to Trainer Stephanie’s bio after this is over!

Carole chose to focus her thoughts more on teamwork. She appreciates the sense of support that the group provides. This isn’t like my volleyball nightmares of years gone by where I was ridiculed for not being as good as everybody else. We cheer each other on and while there is a sense of competition – it’s healthy and it’s pushing each other forward not knocking each other down.

DON’T FORGET TO TAKE IBUPROFEN BEFORE CLASS!!!!
