We all cheer for the underdog, right? When it comes to sports teams or ‘the little guy’ we rally our support behind them.

But, what about our friends? Do we genuinely feel happy for their promotion when we’re struggling with our career (or lack thereof)? Are we honestly pleased when they lose weight, get published or win the lottery?

Sometimes it’s hard, there’s no denying that. It can be a challenge when we’re in the midst of our own struggles and it may appear that they eased into a great situation. Raise the stakes and be dealing with serious issues like health concerns or financial stress, and it makes it even more difficult to celebrate their successes.

But, girlfriends, that’s our job. We’re here to be here for our girlfriends. When they’re up and we’re down, we still need to be happy for them – just like they would be for us. Even if we have to pretend to be happy for them, we need to do that. Sometimes we have to suck it up in the name of friendship!

Help your girlfriends dream their dreams! And celebrate those friendships even when you’re dealing with your own ’stuff.
