I find this article quite interesting, especially in this age of increasing dependence on social networking sites. I’ve always believed in the qualitative versus quantitative aspect of friendship but things seem to be going in the opposite direction. While I will never employ a “one in, one out” policy or set a specific max or min number of friends, I do have a very small inner circle of friends. I stay in touch with everyone else (e.g., some former classmates and colleagues) via email and/or Facebook; even that group is relatively small.
