Living the vida Frito
How life can change in one week! Last week I was plugging away at Girlfriendology and just enjoying the girlfriends who bless my life and the hopeful friendships we’re impacting.
This week – I’m preparing for L.A. and a getting a makeover! And it’s all thanks to girlfriends!
Frito-Lay, the beloved snack temptor, is coming out with a still-tempting but now-healthy line of snacks that appeal specifically to women. (No offense men – you can eat them too! We just kinda go a little wacky for healthy and tasty snacks!) And to get the word out, they’ve invited 20 female bloggers to participate in a plant tour and event (with the beautiful Brooke Burke).
In fact, here’s pretty much all I know:
Frito will be hosting a tour of an LA area production plant on February 24th. This will be a “behind the scenes” tour to see first-hand how our snack products are made. It will focus on new products Frito-Lay is introducing that were developed with women in mind. The portfolio of products features the new SmartFood popcorn clusters- indulgent and nutritious snacks- that are an excellent source of fiber and calcium. The portfolio also includes new, flavor enhanced varieties of Baked! Lay’s and Flat Earth and an addition to the 100 Calorie pack family, Fritos.
Later that night, we hope you’ll join us at the series premiere of “Only in a Woman’s World,” a new animated web-series. The woman-inspired episodes celebrate four friends who humorously experience everyday “that’s so me” moments about topics like diet, beauty, snacking, exercise, and body confidence. The series premiere, which will be hosted by a surprise celebrity guest (Ms. Burke!), is 7-9pm on February 24th at the Hollywood hotspot Coco de Ville. You can view the trailer at www.awomansworld.com
I contacted my girlfriend, Amy who founded CINCY CHIC – an online publication and general women’s event company. Knowing how Amy and her team support local women bloggers, I offered to write a story for Cincy Chic on my Frito-Lay trip. Just like a girlfriend, Amy was all in and didn’t stop there. She then made a few calls and lined up an outfit, purse and makeover – FOR ME! Yes, I’ll do Cincinnati (and Cincy Chic) proud for my L.A. night club debut!
Today I went to The Wardrobe - a boutique in Maderia/Cincinnati that has beautiful clothes! Owner Lesley helped me select several outfits to try on. They were good – some so-so. Then, she found this dress, aka: THE dress. (Actually it’s more brown than purple, the way this photo makes it look.) Isn’t it lovely?!
Tomorrow I get to meet with Erin from Designs by Paolo – designer/maker of awesome bags and Monday I get a full makeover at Tuscany Spa and Salon.
So girlfriends – do I let them go wild and do ANYTHING with my hair – or do I restrain them a bit so it is something I can maintain? How often will I get the chance to have a makeover – probably never! What should I do?
So, thanks to the girlfriends who got me here with a HUGE THANKS to Amy Scalia of CINCY CHIC! She went above and beyond the call of girlfriend duty!
And, of course, thanks to the great people at Frito Lay for this upcoming trip and experience! I can’t wait to share more!
