Girlfriendology 101 Guide to the Online Community for Women based on Female Friendship

Dear Girlfriend, Three weeks ago my girlfriend Carole shared, “I have a feeling that something really good is going to happen to Girlfriendology.”The news? Girlfriendology (aka: me) has been invited to L.A. next week by Frito Lay. They’re releasing new healthy snacks for women and they’re flying in eight women bloggers (to join up with 12 bloggers from California) to tour their plant and to be there for the launch of their new site “Only in a Woman’s World.” And, later in the day there will be a launch party at a swanky L.A. club that will be attended by Brooke Burke and possibly other celebrities.
Okay – this is Friday and that’s Monday!!! What’s a girl to wear?!
With my fashion dilemma weighing heavily on my mind, I called my friend Carole. She celebrated the news (and gloated her prediction of it!) and confessed that she had just sent me a cool black sweater today – a wonderful ‘just because’ girlfriend gift. Guess what I’ll be wearing for my Frito Lay day in L.A.?!
That’s what girlfriends do. They expect and anticipate the best for us. They celebrate those successes with us – and, in this case, she even provided part of the wardrobe for this BIG event.
I’ll report from the road via Twitter and Girlfriendology. I just wish I could take my girlfriends with me! (And thanks Carole for the premonition and sweater!)

Spring has sprung … … okay, so will the snow please go away?!
Don’t you LOVE Spring?!
Even just the anticipation that it’s almost here – is worthy of giving girlfriend gifts. So, here are a few ideas for birthdays, cheer-up gifts or just because days … like with these spring gifts for girlfriends.

Don’t you LOVE SURPRISES?! Like when a friend calls you and cheers you up on a day when you just need to laugh? Or a girlfriend sends you an unexpected gift (like my friend Carole and the sweater mentioned above)? It’s those moments of happiness that do take us by surprise and totally make our day.
Well, the trip to L.A. and the sweater from Carole were just the beginning of my girlfriend surprises.
I contacted a local women’s publication CINCY CHIC about writing an article on the Frito Lay trip. Amy Scalia, the founder of Cincy Chic, thought it was a great idea and then decided to offer me some surprises. She contacted Tuscany Spa & Salon who agreed to give me a make-over before my L.A. debut. Then, she took it even further and found The Wardrobe – a local boutique, to dress me for the big event at an L.A. night club!

Surprise your girlfriend with a makeover, a dinner or manicure. Show up with their favorite take-out and a chick flick. Or just drop them a card to let them know how much their friendship means to you. Girlfriends make life better – that’s no surprise!
