Today’s inauguration is kind of day that makes me happily tearful and eternally hopeful. The images of millions of Americans enthusiastically freezing in Washington, D.C. to the countless homes and venues holding celebrations in every community feels like the equivalent of every Olympic event, Super Bowl and holiday combined. What a great day to be an American!

The common theme to so many of President Obama’s speeches have been the personal responsibility that each of us have to contribute to ‘the solution’ – to making America the wonderful country that requires full participation and support. It inspires me to be aware, to care and to get involved.

President Obama’s team has received praise for their keen use of social media as a way of communicating and connecting with millions of Americans during the election. They continue to use the Internet as a way of sharing and receiving information and they have extended that now with the Citizen Briefing Book – a way of encouraging American’s to share their concerns, thoughts, and ideas with President Obama.

So, in the spirit of patriotism and active involvement in building America, we ask you for your ‘girlfriend advice’ for the Obama’s and for your ideas and ideals for our country both through The Citizen Briefing book and below:

TIP TUESDAY – What’s your advice for America? What will you commit to do to make it a better country?

Generally, I feel that I need to start this thread with my response. So, what do I intend to do to get involved? To make the U.S.a little better? I’m just like most Americans right now – struggling with finances,uncertain of investments and hopefully for potential business opportunities for myself, my husband and my business. My time is limited as is my spending potential – so how can I make a difference? And how can I actively, and with a long-term commitment, change my life to help bring change to our country? Well, I’m working on that but one thing that I want to do is to send in my thoughts and ideas to the Citizen Briefing Book. How can we judge a man’s performance when we offer nothing in support or creative ideas? So, I’m going to write to President Obama – will you? Or, what other ways do you plan to make the U.S. a better country? Please share and inspire!

p.s. And, on such a day of celebration and hope, let us embrace not only our new President but also the dream of a better country, a stronger nation and a respected and respectful government. Thanks Pres. Obama and your team – you’ve restored so much hope! And thanks for the charge to us to do our part too. What a great day to be an American!
