TIP TUESDAY: Best way to keep on track of goals
Did you set some New Year’s Resolutions?
Or do you always have a list of goals or items/accomplishments on a vision board that you’d like to achieve? Lose weight, get organized, exercise, read more, drink less – we all set goals for ourselves. But, do you struggle with reaching them like the rest of us?
It’s human nature to take on challenges. We run marathons, scale mountains and run ‘yellow’ lights. We weigh ourselves, record what we eat, join fitness/nutrition sites (like Sparkpeople – great site!). Even as children we run races with our friends, try to stay inside the lines better than our sister and try to stand taller than the kid next to us.
So, how do we stay on track with our goals? And, as girlfriends, how can we help each other achieve our dreams? How can we enrich our lives? We’d like your thoughts on that.
TIP TUESDAY QUESTION: How do you stay on track with your goals? And, how do your girlfriends help you reach for your dreams? (or you help them)
Me? I’m keeping a gratitude journal this year to record all the wonderful friends, family and fun in my life. Having it on my desk, it is right in sight every day when I start work. I take time out to reflect on the little things – like having a fun walk with my girlfriend Colleen yesterday, or meeting Becky and Jill for coffee or even just getting a ‘catch up’ call from Barb. It’s a wonderful reminder to look for the good things in life and not focus on all the negative issues and attitudes that seem way too common. And it’s pretty easy to stay on track with it prominently displayed and part of my morning routine.
Now the ‘lose weight’ goals that I set have not been so routine. I’m working out more but need to make sure it is on a daily, committed basis. I need to find a girlfriend to hold me accountable!
