How friendships warm winter weather
Well as a matter of fact, a total of eleven of my girlfriends (we refer to ourselves as Goddesses) are leaving tomorrow for our 2nd Annual Goddess Trip. We are all scattered about mostly Virginia and North Carolina and we are all meeting in Murrells Inlet, SC. Six will arrive tomorrow, three on Friday and two on Saturday. We will be leaving on Monday. The most amazing thing is that this is the first year we will ALL be together at the same time. The second amazing thing is we are celebrating our 50th birthdays while together. We have all been friends from grade school and we are cherishing this event with excitement.
2008 was a difficult year for some of the Goddesses. One with reoccuring colon cancer, who now is in remission, thank God for all His Grace and Glory! Another one’s husband is leaving to go to Iraq for a job through the agency he works for. Another one’s husband has lost his job due to the economy and they are facing a lot of issues surrounding that. My list can go on and on….but the overall story is we are gathering to get away from all the trials and tribulations of this world to share stories, laugh, cry and become closer as friends.
I am currently working on a novel (which I started last year) in reference to all of these ladies. I have changed the names to protect the guilty. My tape recorder is packed and notebook as well.
There will be some stories out of this trip I am sure.
