We meet every month regardless of whether or not a book is being read. Every year for 4 years now we have participated in the local "Home For the Holidays" show in our hometown. It is a fund raiser/talent show held over the Christmas holidays to support the local community theater. Let's just say our "act" is always more the comic relief of the show. We've done reader's theater, rewritten Christmas carols and this year we'll be acting out a popular children's fingerplay with the help of many of our children. We have a great time, help each other with stage fright issues and have come to depend on this December tradition. This is our holiday get-together. Our gift is this time spent together before jumping into the holiday fray with our families. I was reading your list above and am pleased to realize we are totally in tune with what you are saying. We don't let a month go by without getting together. We plan a long weekend 'retreat' once a year, we vow to individually do one new thing each year that we haven't done before - and get encouragement from the others to carry that out! And we have fun. I think we're very good for each other. We keep each other sane!
