I agree with Laura about the warehouse clubs. I frequent Sam's and when I purchase fruit and vegetables that I know my family will not consume quickly, I take them to my girlfriend/neighbor and she does the same. Costco and Sam's has fresh produce and their prices can provide you with huge savings! When I buy meat, I divide and use my foodsaver (or ziplock bags) and store for future use.

Shopping in general, my motto has always been, "when in doubt, do without!".

For many items on your shopping list, you would benefit by shopping at a warehouse like Sam's Club, Costco, etc. yet you can't use or store the large amounts they sell in order to get the good pricing.

So, take a day to go to these places with a pad of paper and list the items/prices of things you would purchase if you could share/split them with a girlfriend or two. Email the list along with the price per item after you split it up to your girlfriends to see if they are interested in splitting with you.

I think making a list is important in anything as well as shopping. Now before I go on I must say that I hated having to make a list for anything but by trial and error I have discovered that it is the more efficient way to go about things and any time your are efficient it will have an effect on your life. I have cut back on those every other day trips to the grocery store and instead check on line for store specials and the dates that they have them, shopping on those dates and buying store specials will have a good effect on the wallet. I plot errand trips for those days too. I look at where my stops are and then put them in order so I don't back track and wast gas. You can find a lot of tools on the web as far as saving, I have already mentioned grocery stores that list the specials on line and you can find out the prices of gas in your area too. Planning out meals and using more beans to replace meat for at least a couple of meals will also help. Hope this small bit has helped. Just stopping and thinking in this forum has helped me gain a few more tips.
