Girlfriendology charitable partner: The Girlfriend Factor

Girlfriends at Girlfriendology event
You’d help your girlfriend reach her dreams, wouldn’t you? You’d do anything for your favorite female friends, right? Well, we found an organization who helps girlfriends reach their goals and goes the extra step, befriending them on their journey.
The Girlfriend Factor (GFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Palm Desert, CA whose mission is to celebrate and explore the powerful influence women have on each other’s lives through building friendships, sharing experiences and providing financial support in the form of educational grants to motivated women. The Girlfriend Factor intends to ensure that higher education and occupational training are financially accessible to all adult women who choose to improve their economic position in life and who strive for self-sufficiency. They believe that when women have the support and encouragement of their Girlfriends they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
A relatively young organization, they are already assisting 25 women get through school so that they may achieve their dreams. Not only do they assist these women financially, they also provide them with emotional support and friendship, reminding them that they are not alone, that so many of us have already been there and succeeded. Additionally, they are collaborating with College of the Desert, a community college in Palm Desert, on a public awareness campaign, to be launched in January of 2009, which will promote the fact that education can change women’s lives. Their intent is to then take the campaign to other community colleges as a way to expand their influence throughout the nation.

Another mission of GFF is to show women the financial clout they have when they pool their resources together. They believe that women have the ability to change and improve our society at the grass roots level, girlfriend by girlfriend. This organization may sound familiar. We had the honor of interviewing one of the co-founders, JOAN BUSICK on a podcast (pictured above) with Girlfriendology. Joan and her team of women (including their ‘Blind Faith Gang’) pursue their dream of helping women with passion, dedication and perseverance. And, it isn’t enough to raise money, they’re just as much about developing a supportive relationship and friendship with their grant recipients.
They help women, understand friendship, inspire so many and, at the same time, they admittedly have fun. They basically had us at “help women” but the whole package is what makes The Girlfriend Factor so special. That’s why we’ve selected The Girlfriend Factor as Girlfriendology’s Charity of Choice. We look forward to sharing our success with this amazing organization!

What an absolutely fabulous mission! As a woman who went back to school as an adult and a single, working mom at the time, I am so thrilled to learn about The GFF. I realized a passion for female empowerment through education when I finally earned my first degree. Kudos to GFF and Girlfriendology for their efforts in this vital cause!
