Sunday Shopping Party for Girlfriends Celebrates National Women’s Friendship Day

CINCINNATI – August 28, 2008 – Girlfriendology.com, the online community for women based on female friendship, is hosting a “Shop in the City” party in honor of National Women’s Friendship Day.
From noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 14, female friends can celebrate at three stores on Madison Road and Brazee Street in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati. The event is a great opportunity to go out with girlfriends – or make new ones. There will be gift bags for the first 100 attendees as well as prizes, special discounts and food and drink.
Girlfriendology Founder Debba Haupert says girlfriends make women’s’ lives more enlightened, more enriching and more fun. “We know that girlfriends make us healthier, happier and less stressed,” Haupert said. “As women, as females, we NEED girlfriends. The Girlfriendology community inspires women to make friends, spend time together, show gratitude, and be a better friend. Our goal is to change the world, one friendship at a time – and we believe we can as we inspire women to spend time with, and be grateful for, their female friends.”
“Shop in the City” will flow through three quaint, independent, women-owned businesses in Oakley:
- Nest is a style, gift and home store described as “urban chic with a vintage twist,” at 3814 Madison Road in Oakley (across from Boca restaurant). Five percent of sales at Nest that day will go to the Academy of Medicine Alliance of Cincinnati Health, Education and Service Fund which provides health, education scholarships and supports organizations such as First Step Home, Glad House, and Kids Helping Kids.
- Casa DeLorenzo is a designer pillow store with jewelry and interior design services around the corner from Nest at 4405 Brazee.
- Redtree Gallery is a coffee shop and art gallery at 4409 Brazee that CityBeat calls a “hidden gem” and the Cincinnati Enquirer calls “one of the most urbane spaces in the city” with “smart, hip exhibitions.”
National Women’s Friendship Day is officially Sunday, September 21 (“Shop in the City” takes place the week before). The designation was created in 1999 by Kappa Delta Sorority to provide an opportunity for women to recognize those friends who make a difference in their lives. 2008 is the 10th anniversary of the day established to inspire women to reconnect with the female friends that make them healthier, happier, less stressed and even live longer.
