The function of a friend is not to have a function. ~Detlef Cordes
There is something wonderful about meeting someone and knowing that you’ve just met a great friend. Fab new friend Keri is a great example (so glad we met you!).
Girlfriend guru RACHEL AWES tells us about meeting a new friend–and shares great tips for learning about a new girlfriend and creating deep and lasting friendships.
Last night I went out on a “date” with a new girlfriend! We had a glass of wine at a charming wine bar and then walked across the street to see “Les Miserables.” What a gift it is to have a new girlfriend appear!
We covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time. I share here some of the topics/questions, as it may be fun things to bring to the table of your own friendships:
- What did you like to do when you were 10 years old?
- What names did you go by when you were young? (in first grade, my new friend named herself Penny Penelope Jeanine Fish)
- Who was in your family/where did you grow up/what’s your relationship like with your parents/sibling(s)?
- What was dating like for you?
- What job do you want now?
- Who do you miss?
- What does it feel like to be this age now?
We are supposed to get a bunch more snow here in the next couple days in Minnesota. Sometimes girlfriends are just the right sunshine medicine.
Sending out love to each of you and a sense of curiosity about how you might respond to some of these questions!
