Running Girlfriendology as a start-up is tough. We’re constantly striving to grow traffic, increase and improve content and, in the end, connect with women across the internet/planet to influence and improve your female friendships. Currently I’m evaluating corporate sponsors to help us grow this to be THE community for women based on female friendship - and we’re not going to stop until we do!
As you may know, I recently attended a conference in San Francisco. To be honest I was surprised that more corporate sponsors weren’t at BlogHer. (Thanks to HP, Michelin, Johnson & Johnson, PBS, Microsoft and others who were there.)This conference of 1000 influential female bloggers, often ‘mommy bloggers,’ has a tremendous voice and are being heard through the blogosphere. Rumors are that they’re still unsure of how to handle this sometimes clickish, even tempermental but always passionate crowd of females with loud voices and keen techie skills.
So it just warmed my heart to see Katie Couric, our old favorite Today Show girlfriend, with this nice message (and fabulous shoes!) as a shout-out to BlogHer women:
Thanks Katie! You’re still a girlfriend even if I get my news off Twitter and not the evening broadcast. And thanks to the women of BlogHer for their inspiration and support. Together we can have a voice. Even if we’re driving across country to go to a seminar or meeting new women who are following their passion too. Life is good … with girlfriends!
