That’s right, Tammy Faye. But this weekend, shopping can also be a way of supporting women in improving their lives. The NEW THE LIMITED store in the Crestview Hills Town Center (in KY, Greater Cincinnati) is celebrating their grand opening with 40% off everything this weekend and supporting a wonderful women’s organization. The Limited believes in supporting women’s organizations and this weekend a portion of all sales at the new THE LIMITED Crestview location will benefit one of our favorite local organizations – The WOMEN’S FUND. (See this post about Marian Spencer, Civil Rights Activist and amazing woman. Shared at a Women’s Fund event.) That’s VANESSA FREYTAG, Executive Director of the Women’s Fund above cutting the ribbon yesterday at The Limited store. Here’s more on The Women’s Fund:

Created specifically to improve the quality of life for women and girls, The Women’s Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation provides grants that support local nonprofit organizations. The fund offers an opportunity for those interested in women’s issues and programs to be confident their charitable contributions will make an impact. Their 1000 Women Strong campaign is dedicated to supporting and creating opportunities for women and girls in Greater Cincinnati through grant-making, research and advocacy.

Thanks to THE LIMITED for their support of The Women’s Fund and also for their store tour. Here’s a few things I learned about their stores and philosophy (thanks to the District Manager and the great staff at the Crestview store – they were awesome to shop with!):

• * The Limited stores have changed. They’re generally smaller than they were a decade or so ago. This makes it a little easier to shop, not so overwhelming. The neutral walls and hardwood floors make the stores very welcoming and keep the focus on the awesome colors and styles for shopping. The dressing rooms are roomy and well-lit. The register/check-out area is expanded to make it easy to make those purchases. Seriously, a very pleasant, comfortable shopping experience.
• * I liked that so much of their clothing was colorful. I took home a beautiful teal silk dress, some orange earrings (our Girlfriendology signature color) and am headed back for some more vibrant additions to my closet. Vanessa, from The Women’s Fund, took home a great purple purse (The Women’s Fund’s signature color).
• * Color is great, but I do love a black suit to accent with colorful accessories and blouses. I didn’t realize that The Limited takes the black suit very seriously! They have a designated area of the store where you can always find updated suit elements (jackets, skirts, shorts, etc.) that will match previous pieces of their The Limited black suit. (I may have to go back and check out those more. You can’t go wrong with a great black suit!)
• * Lastly, but most importantly, I didn’t realize that The Limited has a long-standing commitment to helping women and women’s organizations. They’ve supported organizations all over the country that benefit women. They also have a philosophy of empowering women in their organization and inspiring them to inspire the women who shop there. (They have lovely stories of how women come back in and thank them for making them feel beautiful and prepared for job interviews, and how often customers who love their clothes and company become employees, etc.)
