mom friends being non-judgmentalCan you believe we’re almost at the end of February? This year, the end of February brings a treat — it’s Leap Year! How are you going to use your extra day, Girlfriend?

Girlfriend Guru Jennifer Hall believes some of that time should be used to stay in touch with friends. Which of these ideas might work for you?

Every four years we get an extra day added to our year. February 29 is a whole extra day!

What are you going to do with it?

May I suggest you spend some time with a girlfriend?

This year, the 29th is a Wednesday, so you may not be able to spend the whole day. However, you could plan a fantastic Girl’s Night!

Or you could simply have a long-overdue phone conversation. The point is, you have an EXTRA DAY and it should not be wasted! (You don’t have to wait until our Sunday ‘Phone a Friend’ day!)

You should choose to take this extra time to focus on your friendships because:

  • You make excuses why you don’t have the time to call, text, email or get together.
  • You don’t make excuses, but your friends do.
  • Everything else in your life comes first.
  • It’s been way too long.
  • Your friendships deserve this time over other things because:

Why should everything else that normally gets priority get this extra time too?

  • It only comes around once every four years.
  • You deserve to spend time with the people who ‘get’ you.
  • It’s good for you.

We should look at Leap Day as FREE TIME. We should take advantage of it, seize the day, grab the bull by the horns….

My unofficially official date night with my bestie is Mexican food and a movie. Do you have a similar recipe for a perfect night out with a friend? A Wednesday is a great night to get out too, because it’s right smack dab in the middle of the week. Getting out on a Wednesday will rejuvenate you for Thursday and Friday and all the hoopla of the weekend.

At least, that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

So get in touch with a friend, plan a little something, and do it. And hey, let me know you did!
