“There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers.”

Susan B Anthony

women helping womneLife isn’t always fair, but it should be equal. Our friends who strive to make life better should be given equal opportunities. Our daughters and sons deserve the right to pursue their passions and follow their dreams. It’s not always fair, but together we can make it better.

Thanks to amazing women like Susan B. Anthony, we have many rights and freedoms. Thanks to these inspiring women, we can be leaders and lawyers, CEOs and Senators, Doctors and Diplomats. And yet, as far as we’ve come, we still can make life more fair and supportive for the daughters and granddaughters to come.

In fact, for a government that aims to be a representative of the make-up of the population, women still make up only 17% of the members of Congress. (Check out ElectWomen for more info on that.) And like Susan said above, we need to get involved.

We’re celebrating International Women’s Month on Girlfriendology. We’re celebrating women supporting women – from the past, the present and passionately into the future.

But where does it all start? With you, with me, with our friends, our moms, our daughters and all those we reach. Let’s take care of each other and help make this world a little more fair and equal. Because … life really is better, together with your girlfriends!

Happy Monday!

In celebration of International Women’s Day, I am going to read and share Inspirational books written by female authors.

My first and most favorite recommendation was written by Rosemary Trible, an amazing woman who was raped in a horrifying experience a year before her husband Paul was elected to congress.

It inspires women to becoming bold enough to dream again and it’s about hope and healing, and the profound message that the cycle of fear and anxiety can be broken.
