How do you get great social media ideas?
Well, you use social media and crowdsource. That’s what Genesis Today did to select five social media ideas to promote their superfood products.
Girlfriendology founder, Debba Haupert, was selected as one of the five finalists in the “Genesis of a Great Idea” social media competition as noted in the follow press release. With a background in corporate marketing, Debba applied her experience of several years creating and implementing incentive/motivation programs for Fortune 500 companies such as Honda, Acura and BMW. Debba is thrilled to go to Austin, TX in January to compete in this social media event.

Austin, TX — January 5, 2010 — Genesis Today, a world leader in developing superfood products, has selected five finalists for its Genesis of a Great Idea contest. Finalists will present their ideas in January; the winner will receive $10,000.
The contest, designed by social shopper marketing agency Collective Bias, kicked off online in October. It was designed to get Genesis Today jump started in their social media marketing efforts as the company’s line of nutrient-rich juices debuted at Walmart and Sam’s Clubs earlier this year.
The primary goal was to generate ideas that will help the company engage online with its rapidly expanding customer base. Genesis Today was recently listed among Inc. Magazine’s “Fastest Growing Companies” for the second consecutive year and is making a concerted effort to enhance the sense of community among its fans and consumers.
“The power of social media is not just to reach a broad audience with a message but to engage them,” said Katja Presnal, Community Manager for social shopper marketing firm Collective Bias. “So it made sense to ask social media innovators to be part of our process.”
The crowdsourcing effort generated dozens of qualified responses. From those, five were chosen to present their ideas at Genesis Today’s headquarters in Austin, Texas in January. A panel made up of social media experts, bloggers and Genesis Today representatives will determine the winner. The finalists are: Francesca Banducci & Jill Smokler (Mighty Media Girls), Debba Haupert (Girlfriendology), Deb Rox (3 Smart Girlz), Mike Kunkle (DreamWorthy Gifts) and Jan Idelman (Jan Idelman Creative Group).
Dr. Lindsey Duncan, CEO and Owner of Genesis Today, believes that Genesis of a Great Idea is much more than a contest: “We are building a business and a brand by helping our customers take simple steps towards better health. An important part of that is creating an environment where we can offer education and information and our customers can share their experiences and motivate and inspire each other. We think this is a big step in that direction.”
