Product Review: Spot Shot Carpet Cleaner

Okay, here’s where girlfriends come in. None of us have time to know, do, experience and try EVERYTHING. (If you do, let me know and we’ll make you ‘Girlfriend Guru’ of it all!) So, we need our girlfriends to keep us up-to-date on pop culture, products and other important things like entertainment, fashion, food and who’s doing what with whom, etc.

So, here’s where the product placement comes in. Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain & Odor Eliminator - sounds like a commercial here, but it’s not really. It’s solving a problem for you. Like the messes we live with in our homes - for some it’s kids, pets or people; others it’s just dirt, grime and stuff. You know the spot where your cat yacked (official term for it, applies to the sound and the byproduct)? The dirt that builds up around doorways or rugs on the direct path to the door? That unfortunate wine spill from a party two holiday seasons ago? That’s the problem. This just might be the solution for you, girlfriend.

Spot Shot Chocolate & Ammonia Test: the mess

The product (a test conducted by Mom Central blogs) came with a piece of carpet, ammonia and (seriously) chocolate sauce. The test instructions said to “dip the paintbrush into the chocolate and paint it on the carpet square.” I didn’t. I poured it on and scrubbed the chocolate into the carpet with the paintbrush. Let’s see if that comes out! Then, I sprayed the ammonia on the other side. Pretty stinky stuff, how would it turn out?

Well, as the photos show I did what they said to do (aside from my over-zealous chocolate application) and the stains did come out. Actually in less repeat cycles than they indicated. Pretty cool, right? (You just want to go tell your girlfriend with the four cats and the “I won’t walk on it with barefeet” rug - don’t you?!)

Okay, it doesn’t end there. We just rented a carpet scrubber for our berber carpet in our bedroom two weeks ago. Unfortunately, it didn’t do much on the corner by the door by the out-take vent. See the dark staining around the vent? Well, the Spot Shot information says it “eliminates even tough, old stains.”

Wa-la! It did. I didn’t scrub it as much as I could have and it is kinda wet in the photo, but the rag on the right shows just some of the dirt that came out of the rug.

And, what they don’t hype that much, is the nice smell that goes along with the cleaning. The rented carpet scrubber didn’t do that either!

So girlfriends, this is something you might want to tell a friend about. Anyone with kids, pets or just people around, and has carpets or rugs on their floors is eligible for this product. And, as far as pop culture and other scoop, you can share that here too!
